Looking for a EDDC Knife, that is thin.

Spyderco Szabo, Ulize, or Police 3.

Or if you can go a little smaller the BM 710 as mentioned above would make a good knife.

That's true, the Police 3 would be perfect for this purpose. Better traction than an Al Mar Eagle, too.

Hey guys, I really appreciate all the great suggestions. I have bookmarked each and the research begins.

To clear up a few comments;
- This will be an eddc blade only with no intended EDC task use (I have a spyderco caly 3.5 for that)
- I know i eliminate a lot of options by my requirements but it is possible to meet them and I simply want the most I can get. it will be easy and comfortable to carry which will make me very inclined to do so.
- 4.5 inch is my minimum, I would love a 5" blade.

Again thanks for all the knowledge shared!

How about a 6" Cold Steel Ti-Lite?

http://www.coldsteel.com/Product/26SXP/6_TI-LITE.aspx

Only thing it lacks is the multi-position clip. But you may be able to work around that.

Excellent suggestion; top choice if one with multi point cannot be located.

The 6" Cold Steel Hold Out I is 0.7 oz over your limit. Perhaps you would consider that acceptable for an extra 1.5" of blade length over your target? If you ground it down to 4.5", I'll bet it would be under 7 oz. :D

Going the other direction, if you are willing to go down to a 4" blade in exchange for super light weight and exceptional IWB carry-ability, the AL Mar Eagle Ultralight only weights 2 oz.

Frankly, the vast majority of good designs in the type you are looking for are either right at the 4" mark or up at 5.5". In asking for 4.5"+ under 7 ounces, you are limiting yourself in such a way as to exclude the best designs.

Another awesome suggestion, .7 oz over my mark is more then acceptable for a 6" blade! this is proof that 5" can totally meet my requirements. Is it a best design though if it cannot meet a good weight?

All I mean is that, for example, Cold Steel makes a lot of knives with 4" blades that come in way under your weight requirement, but the next size up in the same design will have a 5.5" or 6" blade, and therefore be a bit heavy. There aren't many makers that use locks that are heavy duty, self adjusting, work well without liners, and also make 4.5" blades with those locks.

I tend to prefer the Tri-ad, framelocks, and axis-type locks for hard use, for what it's worth. It would be nice if Spyderco made a linerless G10 CBBL lock knife with a 4.25"+ blade. After seeing what the FRCP Manix 2 can do, I feel that the CBBL is another lock that does well without liners.

Not quite to your specs but have you given a look at the Benchmade 806's?

Check out the Shirogorov 111. Exactly what you're looking for and I know there are a couple available right now.

Get an emerson:
gypsy jack, persian, super cqc-8 (this is my recommendation) all have blades ~4+ inches.

Super fast to deploy due to the wave (except persion)...all excel for self defense.

Maybe a little north of the $150 budget (NIB), but how's about an Extrema Ratio BF3 Dark Talon? It's got a spooky name, too! :D

Others have mentioned some viable options all ready. I don't advocate knives for SD but as a last ditch lifesaver....

Benchmade Onslaught or Bedlam
Spyderco Police
Any of the Super-sized Emerson models with the wave feature

Looks like the SOG SlimJim XL would meet your specs.
Blade Length: 4.18"
Overall Length: 9.36"
Weight: 2.7 oz
Assisted opener
and as its name implies, it is very thin.
I'm not crazy about it, but its not bad for sub-$50.

I agree with others that the Spyderco Police 3 would be a great choice. I avoided it for a long time, thinking it was too big. When I finally got a G10 version I loved it! It's become one of my favorite Spydies.

Why don't you get a Benchmade 710? The exact number of inches of blade you have aren't really important for killing a person, it's large, it carries extremely well, it's small enough (unlike what you are asking for) that it could stand in as an only knife for you and has a variety of competition if it doesn't work for you, and it packs a lot of blade into a pretty compact handle.

I think that or one of the ~4" Spydercos will be a much better actual knife than the ~4.75" you're looking for. I think the balance will strongly favor one of the large folders like that to something with a blade any meaningful amount longer than 4". Just my opinion, also I just haven't seen many folders over four inches that looked well built and useful.

yeah, Spyderco police could be had for a hundred bucks, and is one of the hallmark thin but lengthy folders. the quarter of an inch shorter blade than you want should hardly make a difference.

The Spyderco Laci Szabo would be a great fit, but about forty bucks more than you wanted to spend. 4.6" blade, carbon fiber scales, etc...

That said, not sure if there would be any quantifiable difference between your caly edc blade, and a 4.5" blade for self defense.... except that you would probably be more comfortable drawing the caly since you use it all day... I'd much rather have a nice hardwood cane, or a can of mace than rely on a pocket knife for sd. there is just no winning scenario if it comes down to that.

I'd rather have a dymondwood or stabilized hardwood cane, heh. The average person seeing a piece of stabilized hardwood has no idea how dense and strong it is.

Spyderco Szabo
Spyderco Resilience
Cold Steel has some larger blades, but they may be uncomfortable for IWB
