Not sure if this would be the correct place for this but here goes. Does anyone know of a gentleman who I believe was from Tennessee or Kentucky that makes full custom file knives? I met him on the 127 Corredor sale (aka the worlds longest yard sale) a few years ago he was set up forging knives from his tailgate and they looked beautiful. I remember he said he takes the file grooves out to lessen the weak spots in the knives unless a customer wanted them left in. And if I remember had only been making them for a few years at the time. My family and I had quite a long chat with him and his wife about everything from of course knives to the weather. And at the time I couldn't afford one of his knives and have since forgotten his name. I would love to find out who he was and hopefully get a knife from him.

Thanks for any help

Thank you, I just emailed him. Also if there is anyone else that makes file type knives I would be interested in there websites or pictures too.

We can't discuss business in Shop Talk. If you want to find a person to make you a knife, post that in "The Exchange - Knifemaker Services Wanted" sub-forum. There are regularly file knives for sale in The Exchange knifemaker sales sub-forum, too.

This is the Bladeforums search engine. Use it to search about "file knives", "knife from a file" , etc. It may help you find makers you like.
Filling out your profile would be good, too, as that will tell folks where you are. Someone might live right down the street and offer to have you come over and make your own file knife.
