I don't think you'll be disappointed if you do save for one. His designs are just right. Aesthetically pleasing and completely functional. He's the master of D2 steel. It's a steel I like anyway. It's tough, corrosion resistant and takes an awesome edge. Well good luck on the search.
Reau look for an older Schrade sharpfinger 152 with 1095 carbon steel.They are great knives for what you are looking to do.Skinning sweep to the blade and they narrow to the tip for use with small game,and they hold a great edge.You can find them on ebay for about 20 to 40 bucks depending on condition.Hope this helps
Look at the A.G. Russell Deerhunter or the Bird and Trout. Both are excellent little knives for not much money. Comes with a few different steel options and a good sheath.
