I don't think you'll be disappointed if you do save for one. His designs are just right. Aesthetically pleasing and completely functional. He's the master of D2 steel. It's a steel I like anyway. It's tough, corrosion resistant and takes an awesome edge. Well good luck on the search.

ok next question, where is the cheapest place to purchase one adn which on do i get? Thx

Reau look for an older Schrade sharpfinger 152 with 1095 carbon steel. They are great knives for what you are looking to do.Skinning sweep to the blade and they narrow to the tip for use with small game, and they hold a great edge. You can find them on ebay for about 20 to 40 bucks depending on condition.Hope this helps

Marttiini has the carbon steel Timberjack that is a perfect hunting knife. It does have a cheap sheath though.

Look at the A.G. Russell Deerhunter or the Bird and Trout. Both are excellent little knives for not much money. Comes with a few different steel options and a good sheath.

IMO the best knife for your purpases is

Bark River Fox River in 3v

The hunting knife I'm adding this week to my collection is the $50 rubber-handled Buck Vanguard.
