Hey everybody, I'm looking for a new folding knife for 60 bucks and under. Nothing specific, just something with a blade over 3 inches. I'm looking for something pretty beefy though. Maybe a Cold Steel, Spyderco, Benchmade or something else. Fully serrated or fully plain edge. Hope you guys can help me make a decision. Thank you!

How about a Cold Steel Recon 1 or American Lawman. For the money they are a pretty tough folder with the new Tri-Ad lock. Also the Kershaw Lahar is a solid knife. The Spyderco Endura is nice but I dont think of it as beefy. Good Luck! Kevin :D

I just bought a Cold Steel Recon 1 and I love this thing. As long as you don't mind a little extra weight. The new ones are a little lighter and better designed then the first issue of Recon 1s but just the same they are a little heavy for EDC. But like I said if you need the extra strength and you don't mind a folder on the heavy side this knife is perfect.

I'm thinking about those Cold Steels. I'm really liking them. I like the heft they have. I already have the Endura and I agree, it's a slimmer knife. Thanks for your reply!

I like the extra weight on those. I'm thinking on a Cold Steel. Thanks for replying!

I like that! I'll think about that one too. Thanks for the reply!

seeing your other reply's, keep in mind it will be a slim knife too, as most spyderco's are. they are usually pretty light as well, and don't have that "heft" you are looking for.

You should check out a Kabar Phat Bob. A Dozier design that is beefy with a blade a tad over 3".

For around $60, i luv my American Lawman. The lock-up is like a bank vault and it's plenty big. In fact, any bigger and it would be too big. The handle is hand-filling and the G-10 is super-grippy - gives me confidence to be able to really have a full-strength grip.

I'm not sure how well the edge holds, but it's cut alot of cardboard through Christmas and it's still in pretty good shape, but i'll be giving it a once-over on a fine stone to put things back in shape.

For everyday use, i would go with a s30v blur. awesome knife, and plenty chunky. you can get them over at kershawguy's blem thread for 45 bucks. if you want something super chunky, then get a junkyard dog II composite. they are 55 at the same place, and they are one of the toughest knives in that price range with that steel. it's pretty hard to beat CPM-D2 steel. i do not have much experience with anything but kershaws, sorry.

Many great knives have already been listed, you could also consider a Kershaw Junkyard Dog.
