Looking for a folder that keeps the blade clean in the pocket

Every time I'm out and need a knife to cut a fruit, I take out my trusty little pocket knife and find... lint on the blade. Is there a folder that actually keeps the blade clean?

PS. Please don't tell me to put the knife in an airtight bag before putting it in my pocket, that's just not convenient considering how often I use my knife. But I do want the comfort in knowing that my blade will stay clean.

Wipe it off.

I usually use a SAK for that, always looks clean to me, but I don't really care if there is a bit of dust or something else on the blade. And if I used the blade for something else before, I clean it with my bandana. You could also take a piece of kitchen paper with the fruit and use that to clean your blade.

Just lick the blade clean before cutting fruit for your lady friends.

Seriously. If hygiene or aesthetics are that important, keep a kleenex (unused) handy. Or rinse the blade with tap water before and after use, if possible. Or keep the folder in a small pouch.

Yes, but I am sharing the fruit with some girls, they would not want to eat it after seeing me wipe the blade with my shirt!

What! where's your pimp game man! use your sword :D

Ha! I wish I had that! I guess I should tell why, read on...

A kleenex would be useful but I'd like to have no dirties on the blade in the first place, for ultimate cleanliness.

I usually don't show off my knives, because of the lint issue (don't know how they get there, my pockets are clean), but one of the girls was trying to cut the watermelon with a spoon. She kept trying to stab the spoon into the watermelon and it looked so pathetic, so I finally caved in and brought out my pocket folder. Sure enough there was lint on it, despite the one-peice enclosed handle, good thing nobody saw it and the girl was like "oh why didn't you bring that out earlier!" I'm like "'because you look so cute when you're frustrated", you know, to cover my ground.

Well the 3" blade was not nearly big enough for the watermelon, so I had to slice around it, and it was still connected in the middle. I got a lot of crap from the girls for having such a small knife, some comments regarding my manhood. Eventually we pulled the fruit apart so it was all in good fun.

I don't want to run into the same situation again and again. Please list some folding knives that are completely sealed guys!

You could always keep the folder sealed in a ball wax until you needed it. How about carrying your knife in ziplock bag? You could take the ziplock bag idea one step further and vacuum seal your knife like a steak. All of these could provide a dust and lint free experience for you and your knife.

EDIT: I see you edited your original post after I made my suggestions. Good luck on your quest for a sealed folder. If you find one, please share it with the rest of us.

Get you an out the front auto and tape the slit where the blade comes out. Of course then you have to worry about tape adhesive getting on the blade. But, such is life one problem after another.:grumpy:

This thread is about finding a folding knife that is sealed. I'm sorry some people don't have the maturity to take this topic seriously.

Nobody is taking this topic seriously because it is completely ridiculous.

There are several solutions for your "problem":
- As Jill mentioned, an OTF would do the trick, although it seems like overkill to me for cutting a watermelon.
- Some bali-songs have solid handles that almost touch when closed, virtually sealing the blade inside the handle.
- A sheath on the inside of your pocket would do the trick.
- Or you could get some naughtier girlfriends who would not mind that much about a little lint...
