Looking for a folder that keeps the blade clean in the pocket

I am sharing the fruit with some girls, they would not want to eat it after seeing me wipe the blade with my shirt!

That's because everyone knows, to get a pocketknife really clean you have to spit on the blade and then wipe it on your shirt. BTW, the cuff of your jeans will work if you're sitting down.

first you should give those girls a knife of there own they will keep in their purse
or if you feel girls should not have knives ...
keep it in your purse..
no, dont move this to WC no one cant get there on free membership..

W&C is open to all.....

Tell the wife to turn pockets inside-out when laundering.
Voila, no lint in pocket then.

:cool::cool::cool:
I was going to say almost the same thing, except I expect that you aren't married, so you'll have to turn your pockets inside out yourself. I started doing this because of the linty knives too. If you can't do that, try not to wash your pants with paper napkins, towels, tissues etc in the pockets...
But seriously ...!!!!????

Why not just get a "fruit knife" and keep it in a sleeve.

You can get some of the old silver fruit knives fairly inexpensively and I have seen a number of stylish leather "pocket sheaths" for little outlay, also.

+1 :thumbup:on the SAK

Those blades fit in there real tight.

I thought the "Funny Folder" was an excellent suggestion that the OP seems to have ignored.

You're misunderstanding. A sealed knife is more likely to collect lint, because it's sealed. Get a liner lock with a flow through design. The lint will flow through.

Besides, regardless of if the lint is there or not, it's not going to make your blade any dirtier than it already is.
Stop being self-conscious around girls and just wipe the blade. You should wipe it if you're cutting any food, regardless of if you see anything on it.

Get a traditional barrel knife. The folder is held, sealed inside the handle until you need to use it.

It's not that ridiculous of a question.

A leather slip-pouch should do a good job keeping lint out of the workings of your folder.

Now that's a neat looking knife. I was simply going to suggest a belt sheath, but that looks much nicer. Plus, I'd hate to say it, but belt sheaths look a little geeky.

Barrel knives used to be relatively common, back in the day. You don't see them much nowadays though.

That's neat. I never knew such a knife existed.

The barrel knife is something I'd never heard of before, very interesting.

Aside from that, I believe there's no such thing as a truly clean blade, regardless of how it's stored or carried. Unless you completely sterilize it every time you use it, you're just fooling yourself as to it's cleanliness. If you wear clothing, use a kleenex, sleep on linen bed sheets, or dry your kitchen utensils with a towel, guess what? You're ingesting and inhaling lint, dust, germs and all the other microscopic stuff that we're exposed to 24/7. If anything, a blade that's completely sealed between uses is probably more likely to breed germs than keep them away unless, as I said before, you completely sterilize it each and every time. You're going to pick up stuff from slicing that piece of fruit that will be PERFECT for giving germs a fertile environment in which to grow.

About the only practical way I could even attempt to keep a blade reasonably clean for food prep is to use some sort of sealed, one-time-use, alcohol-based 'handy wipe' type of thing that you might carry with you in your other pocket. Otherwise, I think it's moot to worry about lint on a pocket knife blade that's probably used for many other things as well, like cleaning your fingernails or scraping a piece of gum off the sole of your shoe (the possibilities are frighteningly limitless).

You can't really get a pocket cleaner, ever notice how pocket lint magically forms?

That sucks you got dissed by a girl for the size of your blade, a spyderco military should take care of your manhood problems plus its a good kitchen knife.

Don't put your knife away dirty or sticky? Wash it after each use? I've never had the problem you are talking about and I carry traditional knives and wear dirty ass jeans everyday.

Get you an out the front auto and tape the slit where the blade comes out. Of course then you have to worry about tape adhesive getting on the blade. But, such is life one problem after another.:grumpy:

That's a great idea. Such knives are expensive for what they are, though. I was hoping for a cheaper solution.

That's a neat knife! I will try to find one.

I don't think this is true, because I've used both types of knives.

On my science lab we flame-sterize the blades and syringes. That's not neccesary though, I just use soap for cleaning my personal blades. Germs don't grow on steel, so it's not really an issue. No I'm not fooling myself that my blades are clean, I have a microscope so I know for a fact they are clean (before entering my pocket).

2 words.

Pocket Protector, protects your pocket and your knife. Win Win.

So do I. It's one of the only fully enclosed designs I've seen.

Inexpensive, too. Perfect for a food-only knife.

The suggestions to get a SAK are dead-on, too.
