That i can easily put in and out of sweatpants with one hand. I'm having alot of trouble after my surgery on my left bicep with this. Traditions won't work, need two

hands to open. I currently own: Gayle bradly, southard, mini cqc 15, mini a-100, couple others that i got boxed away. Just need some ideas. Haven't been carrying

anything lately, and can't seem to find a cure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Domino, you can use the flipper or hole for opening, closing with one hand is not an issue. I would've thought the Southard would fit the bill. I also like the small Sebenza for casual carry.

The assisted version of the CRKT Hissatsu might be something to consider.

Nice traditional tanto styled blade with easy assisted opening. Frame lock. CRKT makes some nice stuff. I have the CRKT M16 14M, have had it for a few years now without a complaint yet. The M16 14 M would be a pain to close because of the autolawks safety though. CRKT makes some good knives for a nice price. The Camillus Cuda is another nice knife as well, and is easily opened. I carried one for two years about every day and loved it. $30 at a Walmart. Just some ideas. Not sure about how much you want to spend.

While not exactly an assisted open, any Benchmade with the AXIS lock can easily be opened and closed single-handed.

Thanks, the main problem i'm having is getting the pocket clip on the outside of my sweat pants with one hand. the clips are tight. Pants are a nightmare with the button using one hand.

The Ritter Griptilian is an easy knife to use with one hand. Axis lock and a clip than is easy to clip onto a pocket edge or waistband with one hand. Since you have the Gayle Bradley and the Southard, you probably appreciate good blade steel. The m390 on the Ritter is very nice. Fills the hand nicely. Good price.

Ease of operation can vary from model to model. I have a lot of knives with thumb studs and a lot with thumb holes. Some knives have thumb studs that are easy to hit but others are harder to hit and sometimes your thumb slips off. Likewise I notice that the thumb holes vary in size and some have sharp edges while others have rounded edges. The larger holes with sharp edges are the ones that are easiest to open.

As for putting in/out of sweatpants, you might have to bend the clips out a little bit to reduce the friction on the material.

I think a Spyderco Para2 is overall one of the easiest knives to operate.

Maybe the CRKT Swindle? I'm not sure how it's clip would do with that, but it might be easier than a traditional clip. Another option would be a setup like G&G Hawk have with their clips.

Some forum posters have thought the clip on the Ritter was too loose. I ve had no problems with the security of my Ritter, and I usually clip it IWB behind my belt with one hand.

Now I understand, you may be SOL, I don't have any knives that the clip flares out enough to get past a thicker pocket. Maybe a wire clip of some sort or a custom, hope you're not doing anything that may cause the knife to fall. I've got wire clips on some of the Spyderco's I have and they have a little more spring to them. But, I don't clip carry them either.

The dpx folders have a decent enough gap where it should work for u just tried mine(T3) and was easy enough. Been there with no hand. Bent mine up real good after front tire blew out on my Harley doing 70 a few yrs back. Pins sticking out everywhere. Good luck

Have you tried just throwing the entire knife into your pocket? Sweatpants & clips are a match made in hell imo.

Or is that too inconvenient for you?

Insipid Moniker has the perfect suggestion, IMO. That G&G Hawk has a pocket-clip that can be opened with your thumb like an alligator clip. I do know how tough it is to clip a folder to "soft" sweat pants. This would be excellent. Of course, those MUDD knives aren't cheap, as they are no longer produced, but I do see plenty of them on the Exchange...
Perhaps just that design of pocket-clip might be available to mount on a different folder if the screw-holes match.

Another thing I've noticed regarding clips- I prefer to grab the end of the knife to pull it out but this doesn't work with deep carry clips. With those I've tried pinching between the clip and the knife but that increases the friction on the pocket and doesn't help. I have to put my fingertip on the bottom end of the clip and push up on it, and in the process I've noticed that I can pry out slightly on the clip and it reduces the friction on the material. There are people on these forums that make clips, maybe you could have one made with a little more flare at the bottom.

Clips can be modified. It requires removing, bending, reinstalling.
The opening can be enlarged, and the spring tension can be adjusted.
There's no reason you can't carry your GB doing the above unless it's too heavy.

Maybe get a small, inexpensive 'biner (Nite Ize), clip that on a belt loop, and loop an appropriate length of paracord or whatever rope/twine tickles your fancy. Attach that to a knife you already have that you can open/close easily and comfortably one-handed. The vast majority of pants I own require the second hand to essentially hold the pocket to sufficiently secure the clip over the seam.

Apologies if my suggestion is short of succint; I've had one of those rare and thirsty evenings. :D

Just a thought, good luck with the recovery!

The Southern Grind Bad Monkey comes with a smaller clip that is easy to manage and sticks out a good bit. I always tighten my clip when I put a new one in my pocket and usually tighten it for my customers. It would be a good option and then you can tighten the clip up when your arm is better.

I would suggest a Kershaw Scrambler. I've actually really enjoyed mine, and despite being a very inexpensive knife, I find the flipping action on it to be my favorite of my assisted knives. Also the clip is not too big or beefy, and has a bit of flare on the outer edge. It wouldn't be too difficult to bend out if you needed. Plus they are pretty cheap. Good blade shape, and a nicely shaped handle. The framelock is pretty easy to handle one handed as well, even with my off hand.

(edit: additionally, there are no thumbstuds to get in the way on soft pants. Thumbstuds can be an additional difficulty to navigate when dealing with sweatpants or the like.)

Since your problem is the clipping function, I would suggest the use of a lanyard long enough to let the chosen folder ride in the bottom of pocket and the lanyard drape out of your pocket.
I like the suggestions of the Domino or a Benchmade with the axis lock. The 940-1 with the lanyard looped around the clip would be ultra light and sit comfortably in your pocket. The 940 doesn't have a lanyard hole.

I tore up my arm in a motorcycle accident earl last year so I can understand. I tend to carry my knives in my pocket sans clip. I found that if it were easy to clip on my beltless shorts the retention was not that great. But, you may try bending the clip just a little bit. Do this in small increments. Then see how you like it. Or, look for a cheap chinese made knife with a weak clip and see if you can replace your clip.
