Looking for a folding shovel. Suggestions?

Ok, check out the U-Dig-it, a ss folding hand trowel that has a cordura belt case and is 2 1/4" x 8 3/4" open, 4 1/2" closed in the case, 6ozs for $20 at campmor.com

I have 3 folding shovels, but only one of them I like, the Predator Tools model 45 long handled shovel. It's heavy, only folds at the shovel head, and built like a tank. I'll lug it around most of the time unless I am trying to go WAY light on the packing (it's heft comes in at 48 oz.). Generally I will strap this to the outside of my pack.

Here is a suggestion. Don't get one that folds. Get the Cold Steel Spetnaz shovel. Its a tough son of a gun, and can be used as a chopper, and as a weapon too.

I have no experience with the spetsnaz shovel. But it looks nice and has a good reputation.

I DO have experience with the military tri-fold like the one linked in the first post and they are pieces of trash. We always bought the older military style with a wooden handle instead. The still folded once, but they were far more sturdy. It was somewhat like the one posts by Jeepnuts. Maybe it's the same, I dunno.
