  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Looking for a gift folder, ~$400

Is your friend a knife nut? A $400 knife would be wasted on him if he isn't.
You know, as he usually does The Scurv adds an element of common sense to this thread.

Most folks here, and certainly those who have responded to your question, are obsessed with knives and can fully appreciate the difference between a $150 knife and a $400 knife. Those same nuances would generally be lost on most non-knife folks.

The $150 to $200 price point has a TON of great knives that I'm sure your friend would appreciate. You don't say what the occasion is for giving him a nice gift but perhaps it would be better to give him a Spyderco Paramilitary 2, Benchmade 710, or ZT 0560 and a really great bottle of fine Bourbon, nice leather wallet, or something else really classy.

I've had two Grayman DUA's; still have one. The grip is sized between the small and large Sebenzas, and fits my hand very nicely. It has a heavy-duty S30V blade-steel, and is a winner. The blade is approx. 3 1/4" long; one of mine was 3.15" instead of 3.25". Keep in mind that these are one-at-a-time near customs, make by one man and his wife as sec'y. Mike and Sue are great folks also, and customer service is outstanding.
He has a batch ready to go three or four times a year, and you can also find one pretty often here on the Exchange, as Cerealkiller mentioned above.
Another great knife is the Three Sisters Forge Beast. Also a one-man shop. He uses M390 blade-steel, which is a steel that is highly prized by the folks who have it. The price is easily in your range.

Please do read the post by Scurvy092 and by Addylo. No sense in buying a Caddy for a man who prefers a horse.

Sometimes the budget for a present is determinated by other factors.

May be he want to spend 400$ because it's not so much but it's anyway enough to get something that will not be seen much around.

May be he and he's friend incomes are such that a present for less than that will be considered cheap...

Where are you seeing negative SJ75s reviews? I haven't found many. The slab is G10, not Micarta. The blade has excellent slicing ability, and is built like a tank despite the thin grind.
