Been carrying a CS OSS for a few years on the waist band, concealed. Works great, every day.

I might like to upgrade to something a little heavier though, that I can cut with, cause the OSS is very light and only good for thrusts & draw cuts. Something the same size but heaftier.

Basicially, I am wanting a full flat grind 8-9" bowie w/ a nice acute point that is about 13-14" OAL.

Production stuff, not high dollar. Sort of like a miniature CS Laredo bowie or similar to one of those production Hells Belle bowies w/ 8 or 9" blade.

Also preferring the coffin type handle.

Only thing I can think of right now is also from CS, the Recon Scout.
Doesn't have a coffin handle though.
EDIT: Also there's the KA-BAR Heavy Bowie, but again with no coffin handle.

I know I've seen some customs that fit exactly what you describe, but I can't think of any productions that fit...... sorry.

Ontario Bagwell Master Series bowies are imho some of the best designed non-custom fighting style knives made today. I've owned the Fortress and used it for practicing for a while and although I never carried it concealed it was indeed very very lively in the hand. keepem sharp

OSS concealed? That's a good trick! You can conceal an even bigger blade than an OSS? I can't envision that.

the coffin handle is not that big of a deal. I like those bagwells but they are hard to come by and a little pricey.

I conceal the OSS under a suit jacket or an un tucked open blouse. Would not work so well under a untucked T shirt unless you wanted to look really sloppy w/ a XXXXL shirt.

I'm looking for something the same size but w/ a thicker heavier blade

sooner or later I'm gonna get around to making my own knives. I just want something for <$150 to tide me over. I like that KaBar large heavy. Looks like they're available but now out of production.

I remember looking at those ontario bagwells but thinking I'd get one later on :(

the recon scout is a little short, trail master a little long, guards on both are probably too wide.

I really like the kabar large heavy but wish it had a slight cross guard

i guess I would consider high dollar over $400. Here I am looking for value production price, like ca $100

I suggest you look at the Entrek line. There is a sub-hilt with a broad blade in two sizes, and some very wieldy bowies. Not sure if you're into tantos, but thiers are among the most rugged imho, and they have the top swedge sharpened for a backhand slash. It might take some getting used to carrying an Entrek in the same length as your OSS, because they are solidly built and BEEFY.

that helps.

The Becker Line sounds like it might be a good fit. Everything that pops into my mind rises above that high dollar line, and it has a wait list of several years.

I'd bet there are member's here that own knives worth more than my truck.

Only think that seems to fit your description in my head is the Bagwell line. The Gambler I think would be a good fit.

PM me if you decide to go that route, I may be able to help you out with one. I think I have at least one of all of that line. Sweet knives!

I stand corrected, that Entrek looks like a great option also! Didn't know about it till I checked out that link, cool.

thanks guys.

Entrek knives are great and the guy that owns it is a helluva nice guy, but I am looking for a broader full flat grind type knife. The new Becker knifes, well the old ones too, are also saber grind, AFAIK.
