• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Looking for a good chopper...

Another vote for the bolo style.

This isn't a Tram, it dates from the '40s. Original handle disintegrated after 20 or so years in my ownership so I just rehandled it, gave it a coat of paint to help keep the rust at bay. Be good for another 50+ years now

I used to have a Cold steel Kukri but I couldnt stand it so I sold it one ebay a while back(sold it for the same I paid for it, nice). The handle was a little small and was really aggresive and very blade heavy. It did chop lik crazy but it wasnt comfortable for me.

I picked up a 18" cheap chinese machete for about $4 last week. I went outside and tested it and it didnt seem to be chopping at all. When I examined the edge I found that it wasnt even sharpened. Nice quality control. When I get unlazy I'll sit down with a file and fix that. I think I do like wooden handles on my machete , they seem to be more comfortable.

A Becker would also make a good chopper. I have a BK9 and it chops pretty well. If you got a bigger one it would just be better.

As for the tramontina, Smoky Mountain has free shipping for orders over $10 so I might pick up the the 12" and 14" bolo when they are back in stock.
