Looking for a good first neck knife...

I too am a Jeremy Horton fan.
I have 2 of his neckers.

I wrapped the paracord on that one.
I edc that knife every day for work.
Use it for everything...no problems.
Here is a shot making 2x2's from 2x4's

I also have this blade. It is a tough piece of steel no doubt,as the picture above shows, and it will do that all day long.

The Horton Necker and the RC Izula are my two favorite neck knives I've tried.
I grab the Izula when I want a tough, but very light and compact tool. I grab the Horton when I want something that will survive a nuclear apocalypse. :D

Complete truth. I've handled an Izula, and I thought it was solid. I think you would be happy with either one.

I can't stand a knife hanging around my neck...I've bought a bunch and it never works.

The Izula makes a great camp knife. It's sturdy as heck, I've batoned the crap out of it, no problems. Man, those Horton neckers do look sweet though

Sorry, I don't have any pics (no camera). As for price, you can find the Izula on many sites for around $50 for the knife and sheath, maybe $70 or $80 for the kit. I would recommend both Knives Ship Free (www.knivesshipfree.com), or Chestnut Ridge Knife Shop (www.ridgeknifeshop.com). Both have competitive prices, and great customer service. Though I have not had a need to take advantage of RAT's warranty yet, I can assure you they will back it up 100%. If you visit the RAT Cutlery forum under the manufacturer's forums, they have a sticky there concerning the warranty. I hope this was helpful, and good luck with your knife search!

I'll see your prices and drop them. Full kit can be had for 60ish bucks shipped from a forum vendor, TKC at http://www.the-knife-connection.com/rat-cutlery--izula.html

EDIT: And if you want a really neat looking neck knife and are willing to pony up the cash, the Spartan Enyo is awesome. Comes in s30v.

I'm currently using the tops ferret for a necker with the rocky mountain grip & am very happy with it. Those izula's do look sweet though.
