looking for a good folder with flipper

Hey there people, I'm searching for a folder.
I currently have a CRKT M16-13LE, which is a sensational knife, but the handle is too slippery for me, and doesn't seem to have a good enough grip. I saw the TOPS CQT 304, and that seems like a great knife but I hear not so good (cutting wise) news about them, it reminds me of a Benchmade Stryker (I think) that I have. Excellent for combat, not great for cutting.

Can someone recommend a blade, that incorporates a flipper (No assisted I'm in Australia), yet remains reasonably compact (3.5inch blade approx), whilst keeping in around the $100-150 mark?

Thanks in advance

Any of the benchmade Griptilian series, Or a Spyderco Delica.
Compact, great grip, The cut like torches, and the cost is right.

And none of the knives that gkruty mentioned have a flipper. When I think of knives with flippers, the first thing that comes to mind is RJ Martin!!

Get you a Kershaw Groove man. Get everything you want, 3.5" blade, great looks, made in the USA and probably the best non assisted opening flipper I've ever tried to date. You will love that knife. Either that one or wait just a few and get one of the new Kershaw Williams collaboration knives due to come out shortly. The Groove is a looker. Its one of those you don't want to lay down and turn your back on but it is a non assisted opener and the flipper is effortless.

Kershaw Storm or Storm II (slightly larger).

Slim, great grip ergonomics, short but very effective non-assisted flipper.
Deep recurved trailing point blade of 12C27.
All-steel framelock.

You won't believe the price ...

Go for a Lone Wolf Ranger T2. This knife was designed by Bill Harsey. You will NEVER be sorry! These blades are in use in the operational theatre and the report back is very positive.

The Storms are good knives for the money but they don't flip out very well compared to the others Kershaw is currently offering like the JunkYardDog I and II, Groove, and Williams knife. These are all a step up in ease of use.

I haven't handled the new Kershaws, but I quite like the Cyclones, they flip pretty well too. Um ... well I guess they have a "turn on" assist feature, but you can take out the spring ...

You can take out the spring on any of them. But technically an auto is still an auto even if the spring is gone according to the law. If a knowledgeable cop wanted to he could still nail you with it even with the spring out of it. I've not read of many cases in recent times like this but it seems to me I read either on the Bernard Levine site or one of the others for autos about this from a court case involving someone that lost a case in court even though they thought they were legal by taking the spring out of an automatic folder.

The new flippers on the Kershaws are very different in action -
they are almost like "UNassisted assists" - but no springs......

Please take a look at this thread for some pics, specs and discussion -

New Kershaw Flippers

See Post #10 & #17 specifically for an attempted description, and confirmation on why these flippers are different.

also Post #379 & #381 in the thread Kershaw Knives News Thread have pics of the knives closed.

I'd go with a BM 710 or a griptilian if the blade on the 710 seems too large for what you're using it for.

I'll echo STR's mention for the new Kershaw knives. The Groove, JYDs, NRGs and the Lahar should provide good options for what the gentleman is looking for. I've had the JYD2 passaround for the past week and it's a great flipper.

Here is a layout of the knives we do with a flipper that I mentioned in an earlier thread back late last year (sorry I did mention the AO's in this response) Updated delivery schedules have been added as well:
