Ok i am looking for a good quality folding knife for around $40. I am considering the benchmade vex knife. Is this a good knife? If not can you guys recommend something. Thanks.

I have the Vex, and while it's not the best knife I have (or my favorite) it's a good blade for general EDC use. I'd personally try to find a good deal on a Cold Steel (the Voyager is a good choice) or something along those lines. Gun shows are good placed to get deals, I got a Darrel Ralph Maxx-Q for $35 at the last show, and those retail for $75 or so.

And as for recommendations, it all depends on what you want to do with the blade. Are you looking for a general EDC or something more specialized (aka self defense)? That will affect your choice as well......

Deleted.

For some reason this stupid computer I'm using decided to send the post twice.......

At $40 bucks you are not far off from a very nice EDC. Benchmade mini-grip you can find for about $55 Also for about the same price you can get a Spyderco Endura

Spyderco Tenacious
Spyderco Persistence
Buck Vantage - they have several choices.
Kershaw Skyline

If you want to go up to $50 you can get:
Spyderco Delica 4
Spyderco Cat
Spyderco Chicago
Kershaw Leek

BENCHMADE Vex is a definetly good EDC...
Spyderco Tenacious
RAT-1
SOGZILLA
In that order....

I am just looking for something for general EDC/camping/hiking. Just to cut paracord or other small things that need to be cut. I currently have the RAT Izula but now i would prefer a nice folder. Thanks for all the help so far.

Some knives I don't own myself but believe are also good quality:
Böker Exskeli bur 2 (Highly recommend! check out pics of this one)
Case Sodbuster
Blade-Tech Ganyana lite
Ontario RAT 1
Browning Ice storm
Buck Vantage
Buck Sirus
Camillus Wildfire

Kershaw is an option to, can't really go wrong with one of their knives I think.

Ok so i sort of narrowed it down, My choices thanks to you guys are....The Spyderco Delica 4, Spyderco Tenacious, Buck Vantage Series, Or the
cold steel ak47.

I would like to stay around $30-$40 but i might spend more... With that said Out of the knives i mentioned above, Which is going to last awhile, hold its edge for awhile, and not fall apart on me? Or are they all pretty good? Feel free to recommend more if there is other options. Thanks guys.

Those are all fine. You can also get a kershaw leek for $30

the very inexpensive Byrd line brought in by spyderco is impressive. the 8cr13 chinese alloy is fantastic for the abuse it will endure. digging ,prying, wire cutting etc in a ranch workout. the big plus is the byrd will endure dirty & tuff chores & come back for more. i'm a knife snob but the loss of 3 spydercos[hi--end] & one scandium s&w 38 messing with cactus & cedar tends to make one examine cheaper alternatives.
