Looking for a good knife for around $40, Help?

Well i was going to go with the Spyderco Tenacious because so many of you recommended it, But i recently learned that it is made by a chinese company. I have have very bad luck with knives made by china so i will pass on this one. Now im back to square one.

have a good look at the ontario RAT-1 folder.
if you can find another aus-8 flatground blade with full steel liners and a comfortable handle for 24 to 30$ let me know. The drop point design is a real user.
I have spidies, emersons and cold steels and the rat-1 holds its own in expensive company.

here are a few i recommend.

Spyderco Persistence
Spyderco Tenacious
Spyderco Delica 4
Kershaw Skyline
Ontario Rat-1

Between all those I think I like the skyline the most

Ok so i sort of narrowed it down, My choices thanks to you guys are....The Spyderco Delica 4, Spyderco Tenacious, Buck Vantage Series, Or the
cold steel ak47.

I would like to stay around $30-$40 but i might spend more... With that said Out of the knives i mentioned above, Which is going to last awhile, hold its edge for awhile, and not fall apart on me? Or are they all pretty good? Feel free to recommend more if there is other options. Thanks guys.

Of those choices I'd go with the Buck Vantage in s30v or Delica 4. As far as I know neither are made in China.

Like my Skyline but have a Meadowlark Byrd in my pocket right now, yes it is made in China but it has done everything I have asked it to do out in the yard and is small enough not to be a burden and is cheap?

Ok i think i might go with the kershaw leek or the buck 110. Will these stand up to the test of time? Thanks.

For the purpose you described, the RAT-1 is knife enough. It is capable of much more and at less that $30 its a steal.

If you can spare $10 more, the Buck Vantage Pro with S30V steel is a great choice.

Spyderco Tenacious/Persistence (depending what size you want), Kershaw R.A.M. (this is my favorite knife at just about any price right now), or Buck Vantage Pro. The Kershaw and Buck may be harder to find around $40 but it is possible.

If you're looking for a small fixed blade...... Izula all the way!

As far as folders go, I'd recommend the Tenacious or the Skyline.... like everyone else haha

I noticed that you said that Chinese made blades turn you off. But really, most of them are not too bad. I know this forum seems to have an anti-SOG bias, but I'll have to recommend the SOG Flash II. It's a very good and usable knife for the money, even though it is made in Taiwan.

If you really want something MIA, I'd recommend the Kershaw Skyline. I know that a lot of people suggested the Leek, but I just find it too heavy for the amount of blade you get, I'm not a huge fan of the blade shape, and it feels unbalanced in the pocket when you put it in tip up carry.

Lots of good suggestions in here though.

ANY Kershaw that you like the price of, you honestly can't go wrong. Personally I recommend the Skyline and RAM in this price range.
Spyderco Tenacious/Persistence
Boker Trance
Buck Vantage
