The original Gurkha mostly preferred to use there own Kukri made by their village smith as the British ones were military issue (made by the cheapest bidder, not the best quality, etc). There were some that did use the military issue kukri, especially the later models (WWI and WWII).
Some of the traditional kukri can get very expensive, so it depends on how much you want to spend and what you are going to do with it.

sunshaker has it right, I still support HI though, to me they are ths bee's knee's.
Every single HI kukri is tempting, and that says something right there. I'm sure I could place a special order for a kukri with a larger karda from them.
The [HI] Kamis are masters of their craft. Every knife is hand made, start to finish, with craftsmen paying attention to every detail. HI was founded on the principle of bringing honest work to hard-up people by producing high-quality products at reasonable prices.
I am in the minority here but I prefer the CS Gurka Kukri. I am partial to kraton and kydex over wood and leather.
I used to have a CS Gurka Lite several years ago. It was ok as far as expensive machetes go. If you want a real solid piece of actual factual khukuri, check out HI or Tora. If you're buying stateside, then HI is a great way to get a lot of khuk for a very reasonable price. All pricing includes shipping in the continental US. Also, be sure to stop by the HI forums to check out the deals of the day. Every so often, usually a couple times a week, Yangdu will post up some of her famous deals. Usually these a khuks with minor rust staining, a slight crack in the handle, or a scuffed up scabbard. However, the savings are HUGE. It's a great way to break into the khukuri world without spending a fortune...yet still getting your hands on the "real deal".

He doesn't make Kraton handles though. For the price of the Kukri and sheath I can get 3 SK-5 CS Gurka Kukri's or one San Mai. I would much rather have the CS kukri as the traditionals I see around here just don't appeal to me.Obviously you never saw a khuk kydex sheath made by Dan Koster![]()
