Looking for a good maker!

If you want a basic large blade like your last drawing, I would charge about $350-400 in 1095 carbon steel and about $75 more in CPM154 stainless. It would have a hamon in 1095. Handles would be included in any standard wood . Persimmon would look good.

Email me if you want to discuss this more.

Although I am reluctant to suggest this, since other makers have posted prices and an interest in helping you out, and I don’t want to take business away from them, I just had one suggestion.

When I first saw your drawing, it reminded me of a Smatchet (google it if you are interested).
And when you said you wanted it to be machete-like (thin, narrow bevel style), I remembered reading an article years ago in some mag about the folks at Eight Dollar Mountain Forge in southern Oregon and his bare-bones work knives:

His knives are kind of different, but you might check him out as well.

Good luck,
Brome

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd like to have a smatchet as well, but this design is a bit better suited to my general purposes. :)

I've found a good inexpensive quote from a maker I'm a big fan of, so I'm all set as far as the smaller version goes. (you'll find out who once I've saved up the cash next summer!) Thanks for the suggestions, guys. I guess the full-sized monster will have to remain a dream for now! :D
