Looking for a good multi-tool...suggestions?

I would go for the Swiss Tool Spirit :)

I have tried to use or caried the following multitools over last few years.

Gerber Multi Plier 600
Leatherman Wave 2002
Leatherman Wave 2005
Letherman Juice PRO or here
Swiss Tool Spirit

I do use Leatherman Charge Ti [black tactical] for 10 months now and I am very satisfied with it. I really love fast acess to [one hand opening] blades with liner locks that some Leathermans have and would never go with any other multitool ....but since you narrowed selection to Leatherman Kick and Swiss Spirit I would go directly to the Spirit ....It is so well made and feels great in the hand. The only problem would be if you mostly want to use a knife...Spirit only has a sheepfoot serrated blade which is not a good choice for utility/all round use.

Thanks for the help guys. After looking at your posts, I have narrowed it down to two multi-tools: The Leatherman Kick and the Victorinox Spirit.

Now, the debate: Which one is better? ;)

I own both. The Kick is a good tool, but not in the same quality class as the Vic Spirit.

Except for the phillips screwdriver, the Victorinox Spirit is better built. It contains no plastic.

The Spirit's blades open smoothly, with a positive "click" once fully deployed. The Kick's individual blades clump together when you try to access just one.

I had some initial doubts, but the Spirit's sheepsfoot blade has been fine for general utility, especially after performing a quick serration-ectomy. the corner at the tip is fine for digging into packaging, etc. to slice it open, and I figure the awl is always there if I've really got to pierce something. Yeah, I'd prefer a conventional blade, but I have not had a problem yet.

If you like the Spirit but must have a conventional blade, look at the Spirit S. You lose the scissors though.

Before modding the blade, try using it for a while. At first I found the oddball shape to be off-putting, but after some experience, found it to be entirely practical. So might you.

I often use a knife left-handed, so a blade beveled on one side only, as most serrated ones are, doesn't work as well for me. I do agree that the sheepsfoot is fine once you get used to it.

after 8 years of Gerber hegemony ( model 400 and urban legend 800) I take Lth.Surge and till now I found that`s very strong and usefull tool.

I vote for the SwissTool Spirit for its compactness, corrosion resistance, ease of utility and great selection of locking tools. Better yet, get the Plus version with the ratchet and extension. =)

I recently received a Leatherman Charge in a trade and really like it alot.
Of all the multitools that I have used in the past, it is the best so far IMO.

Previous tools used:

Leatherman PST
Leatherman Blast
Leatherman Wave (old wave)
Leatherman SuperTool 200
Leatherman Crunch
Gerber Pro-Scout
SOG Power-Pliers
Victorinox SwissTool
