Hi all :)

I’ve been registrated on this forum few month ago but that’s my very first post.
I don’t have personal @net access so I’m not able to follow the debate, just reads and answer From time to time.

I’ve planned to buy an neck knife for EDC, most of the time my knife is used for kitchen work, water pack Opening, cutting my meat etc.

Today I know the following:

Pat Crawford “legionary”
Busse Game warden skeleton (OL is 7” maybe a bit too long)
Fallkniven WM1
Bud nealy PESH-KABZ 3”
Mission knifes MBK

I am looking for either custom made or production made neck knife

Can you recommend others good one
Thanks for your feeback
Regards :D
Chris

Ton anglais n'est pas si mal, t'inquiètes.

Malheureusement je ne peux pas t'aider à choisir, je ne connais pas les modèles, mais je servirai d'interprète au besoin.

(I told him his english wasn't that bad)

Look at a becker necker, the RAT3 or the ranger knives little bird. All look great and the RAT3 is my personal favorite.

For custom makers who do tremendous work, I can recommend:

Gene Ingram- His pocket knife would make a very nice neck knife
Charles May- I'd say his Fireant is a good bet
Tom Krein- TK1, its small but cuts very well and is comfortable for neck wear.

Your English is great Campoy, not to worry. How about getting one of Fred Perrin's neck knives? He's a fellow Frenchman and people all seem to love his work.

He calls his neck knives La Griffe and puts various handle materials on them, but they are a bit pricey. Still, maybe they are cheaper to a fellow Frenchman. :)

The Becker Necker is a nice neck knife. I attached a snap link to mine and carry it from my belt loop.

The knives you mentioned are all very high quality but some are a bit big for actual around the neck wear. I was checking out the smaller of the mission ti knives because it would be lighter, would not be damaged by sweat and mostly because titianium is just so darn cool. I really like the Hideaway unfortunatly it may be illegal here in canada due to a law against ring knives.

Check out Atwwod knife and Tool he has some great little knives ,great prices
for production knives much less custom ones and is often here on the forum.

I just ordered the greatest smaller fixed blade in the history of mankind bar none, the scrapyard 4 INFI. Sorry to say they were all snatched up.

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

I have the Bud Nealy 3” Pesh-Kabz and the Mission Knives MBK. The Nealy is excellent, and lightweight for its size. The peculiar tip is also sharp and will not interfere with normal use.

The MBK is almost weightless, very comfortable in my hand, but the titanium will not take and hold the razor sharp edge that a good steel will.

The Pat Crawford Legionnaire is a great little knife. I have a similar Crawford neck knife and I've handled the Legionnaire. They are lightweight and will stay sharp.

Like the Crawford, the Fallkniven WM1 is an excellent utility knife, and has a better grip.

I'm not familiar with the Busse Game Warden, but even their skeletal knives tend to be fairly heavy.

Ha! I talked myself into a Fred Perrin knife. I've been looking at those little street cleavers for quite a while and just decided to go ahead and "jump" on one, so to speak. I can't wait to get it, now. :D

Chris,

BTW, your English is fine, better than some I've seen that live here...

I've owned at least a 1/2 dozen neckers including a Becker Neck knife (a bit big to carry around the neck) Spyderco Ronin and Larry Ramey titanium and recently thinned my collection down to these 3.

Buck Hartsook
Ivan Campos Mutuca
Fred Perrin Street La Griffe (Fred is a compatriot of yours)

I find the Buck to be the most comfortable and handy for it's small size. It get's the most carry time. The Campos is a bit heavier and I carry it more as a back up. The Perrin, well, is a Perrin and makes a great functional accessory in black.... I would look at Perrin's line. He makes some very unique, functional and artistic blades that I would love to have more of.

Let us know what you end up getting.

If you're not going custom, I'd recommend the
Emerson LaGriffe. Its ergos, weight, feel, design,
and build quality are terrific.

Hated the sheath, though, took some major yanking to get the thing out. If I had a choice, I'd make a kydex one-side sheath with a magnetic retention.

Wow! I'm interested to hear that; because one of the
things I'm so impressed with on my LaGriffe is the fit into/out of
the sheath.

The amount of "tug" to release the knife is just right.

I've got a heck of a lot of kydex/concealex sheathed neck knives and
this one is the best other than my customs.

I had a couple of Emerson LG sheaths, both excellent fit. But there's a possiblity of an occasional problem with any production item.
