Looking for a good technical outdoor jacket. All weather & Waterproof.

I have an Arcteryx Alpha SV jacket. It is a great hardshell, virtually bombproof. I highly recommend it.

I've got an Alpha LT. To get Arcteryc LEAF in the USA I'd say Tactical Distributors in VA. Can't say where is best to get the bright coloured stuff.

Oops, caught by the necro.

Then there is the poncho which is cheap, light & effective as well as being versatile. One of my lightweight hunting options features a merino wool hoody with a poncho in my pack. Try making an emergency shelter out of a softshell jacket.

Softshells are great for around town, going to work, etc. but anytime there's a chance I might have to spend an unexpected night in the woods I break out the layers (even if they're as simple as a hoodie and a poncho :D).

In my experience I find Arcteryx hard shell(s) the best against a steady rain or heavier showers . The ventilation is also quite good & the only downside is the price. But you can't be afraid to pay for quality . Also I believe most of their clothing is mostly made in Canada.

"Currently our products are made in 22 different facilities throughout the world."

"A longstanding fixture in our design and production operations, our Vancouver factory currently employs 250 people. Having our own facility allows us to make smaller production runs and also to test and develop new construction techniques. Key product produced here include the iconic Alpha SV Jacket, all of our harnesses and any proprietary technologies that we wish to keep strictly in-house."

Yep. I think they have a factory in North Vancouver about 30 min drive from my house.
