Hello all,

I am interested in purchasing a nice tomahawk for general camp work(Carving stakes, choping small wood etc)Are there any nice 'hawks out there other than the Cold Steel ones? I don't want to spend over $100.00. I like the look of the Cold Steel Plainsman 'Hawk and will settle for this if nothing turns up, so I am also interested in any opinions on this one. Thanks a lot.

John,

The Camp Cleaver does look awesome and as far as practicality is concerned it would probably be better suited for the tasks at hand. I think though, that I am looking for something more traditional looking. Now that I think about it, I do really like the looks of that cleaver

John, how big is the head and how long is the handle? Also, what is the weight on this bad boy? Maybe one day I will have to pick one up.

Louis,

The blade is ~6", the handle ~8". I suppose it isn't a tomahawk by any stretch of the imagination. MMHW also has various smaller axes- you have a catalog, no? If there is anything in the catalog you like, email me and I can get you a great deal.

Why NOT go with a Cold Steel Tomahawk? They're made pretty well, out of not too bad of a steel, and the price is WAY below $100.

DEFINITELY check out the Cold Steel 'hawks. They're tough as hell, and cheap!
