Looking for a grub hoe/eye hoe/digging hoe/azada.

Put a really good edge on it and dug into my front flower bed forgetting that is 50/50 rocks and dirt. Oh well, five minutes with a file will sort it out! Just knocked the apex off. Still is sharp enough to dig with.

The edge of a grubbing tool should be left about 1/32" or 1mm wide. Thinner than that will just roll or chip when it impacts a rock.

Yes, you are right about the grub hoe being a different beast. I have a hard time seeing the use of the standard garden hoe as a scuffle hoe. I would think a diamond or stirrup scuffle hoe would do the job better.

Good to see there is already a hoe thread.

I just sharpened the hoe to the best of my limited ability. I can change it. Thanks for telling me that.

Yup--dirt edges are different than for other mediums. You want to leave a very very slight flat to the edge to prevent damage in rock impacts.
