I am having some trouble finding someone who heat treats. I tried searching blade forums (through Google) and just using Google, but I haven't come up with anything. I am looking for someone who can heat treat my O1 1/8 inch knife. Preferably this would be someone who can get it back to me ASAP (I am trying to finish this project before I go back to school, leaving me tool-less until Christmas).

Where are you. Mailing a single blade both ways plus HT cost is gonna be about 30 bucks. maybe some body close to you to take it to,or some maker may let you come by and help you HT it.

Being thats its 01 and thin stock, Im assuming its fairly small. You could probably handle it yourself with a torch and some tranny fluid. You could temper it in a regular oven.
Im sure there are many here who could give detailed info if thats something you wanted to do.

Its not too large. I think its about nine and a half inches. If the process isn't to difficult and I can do it with stuff i have around the house then I'm willing to give it a try. I just wasn't sure if i would be able to evenly heat it, and prevent it from warping and all that stuff. If someone has an easy way that they think I can do, I'm willing to give it a try.

Guitardemon, If you want a quality HT, the above is not going to get it, although it will work to a degree. In my experience, even a less than ideal HT with 01 makes a usable blade.

Since its my first knife, and I don't think this its is turning out too bad, I guess I should send it out to have someone who knows what they are doing, do it. Who would you recommend I send the knife to to get heat treated? Are there any makers on here who do it, or should I look at some particular company?

How quick is ASAP?
Delbert Ealy has heat treated a few knives for me. Very very reasonable prices, and I think I had them back in my hands within two weeks if I recall.

That's one of the smartest things I have seen written by here by a newbie in a long time!
Very good advice you just gave yourself. :thumbup:Follow through with it until you have the proper equipment and knowledge to do it yourself.
