Kershaw Looking for a kershaw clone.

We are being trolled. The OP begs ignorance about the problem with clone knives then turns around and speaks with well-read knowledge of folding knife properties. The OP is also adept at forum-fu.

Let this one go and let this thread sink to the bottom of GKD.

Thanks for your interest E EricRedAxe , but we smell what you’re cooking.
I know there is a problem with company's copying knifes still in production, Ganzo is the biggest offender I know of, they've ripped off every well known design under the sun.
I'm not ok with people ripping off the 940 or the sabenza because those models are Still in production.
But I didn't know that the same sentiment was felt about Discontinued knifes.
Again i'm sorry, but it didn't occur to me that a knife that hadn't been made in over a decade was held to the same standard.

Wants a particular knife but doesn't want a freebie of that particular knife. Instead would rather spark a discussion of were to buy clones of that knife.

Actually I took H0kieengineer up on his offer over Email.
And I get it, I was wrong to ask.

Yeah you guys went a bit overboard here. There was no actual indication that the guy was trying to start anything.

Chill out. He got the knife he was looking for, but his secondary question is still out there, whats a similar enough but easily replaceable knife.

Please stop trying to scare off new members.

The Artisan Cutlery knife you said looks like a good replacement, its handle shape and profile seem like something common place in the knife market. I mean finger grooves aside the first thing I thought when I looked at it was that it looks like the Kershaw Link. Although I guess no accounting for blade length.

I understand where Eric is coming from. He wants a knife that is relatively inexpensive, decent materials, on the large side, on washers, and is easy to replace with the same model should one get lost or broken. And I understand him asking for a clone of a knife that has been out of production for a decade. He’s a newish member and probably didn’t know better. Let’s try to be more understanding.

I would recommend the Ontario RAT series for such a knife. Two sizes, good construction, comes in stainless and D2.

Nice.

That knife is likely not longer in production because better choices now exist. By the time that one wears out you'll have found more options.
