I am looking for a kershaw spec bump with smooth handles like the one pictured on page 16 of Blade magazine dated April 2006.

It looks like polished micarta, but am not sure.

All the sites I have checked show a paterned finish maybe g10 (?)

Is it this one?

That's the current model

Here's one coming out in March called the Speed Bump

It's going to be the budget bump...

Kershaw apparently made a ton of different Bumps in house and took them to shows. I have a photo on my HD of like 8 of them in one shot. Apparently, the plan is to make a couple thousand of a bunch of different handle/steel combos and then switch to a new one. In fact, the S30V one with a redesigned G10 handle is coming out in less than a month.

I DO love G10, but I just love the look of the polished micarta (?) handled one in blade.

At least it looks polished (maybe a matt finish?) to me.

The polished Spec Bump in Blade is a ZDP-189, polished G-10 prototype. It is an incredible piece, that has no plans for even limited production, sorry.

 WHOHAAA! That is too bad, you would have had a customer right here!

Sorry, I meant to say a ZDP-189/ATS-34 clad blade, my bad. Also it has a polished G-10 back spacer.

Seems a bit weird that they would put a pic of a ZDP-189 bladed knife in the middle of an article about CPM 154, as the specific example of Kershaw's only production knife that uses that steel.

As for the handle material, I don't know. Could be polished micarta, but it could just as easily be polished g-10.

is it leagal to take a picture of the magazine and then post it? If so I will.

ginshun, it is indeed polished G-10, as I handled the piece just a few days ago. Blade was looking for a few different versions of the Spec Bump for the article, and we forwarded the one you posted about, and they pictured it.

Robert, you can post a pic of the Bump, no problem. This one has micarta scales, and the ZDP/ATS clad as well. I have edc'd it for the last 8 months or so.
