looking for a knife for my gf, sub 70usd

you can get several Spydercos in pink, check out the Squeak, the Chineese folder, Mantix 2 and Native 4 all come in pink, go to ebay and search "Spyderco Pink' to easily check them all out.

...although, if she hates knives and doesn't like you carying them, not sure it will do any good. I hate to say it but I'd think about getting a new gf hahaha...

Yeah, my wife hates knives also. Didn't bother her to snag my SAK classic SD from me though. Just get her that, it got a scissors, nail file, tweezers and a small blade - everything that a girl needs. Don't bother to buy her a pink mini grip unless you don't mind carrying it later yourself.

SAK is the only knife my wife will carry. They're great little knives.

I am getting my wife either a purple ladybug, or a rainbow chive. She works at a school and needs a sub 2.5 blade. Only other choice would be a sak of purple color. She hates pink!

I think you should just go small and get her a spyderco ladybug! She can put it on her keys and she'll notice how useful it is and since it's small and not menacing it's a great choice!

My inclination would be a small SAK, may be a Classic with a cool looking handle.

Another thing you could do is make a small cute lanyard/fob for her knife to personalize it a bit.

I gave my wife a key ring fob I made before we got married. It is manzinita with an inlaid sugar maple cross. It is still on her key ring 30+ years.

So my gf is really not into knives, in fact, she hates them and it freaks her out when I carry knives. So I'd like to buy her a small feminine non-agressive looking edc so she can -hopefully- experience the benefits of carrying a knife. I was thinking about a spyderco because most of them really don't look menacing, but I don't really have experience with spyderco (yes I know it's a disgrace and yes I will do something about it very soon, planning to buy a military), so I was hoping to get some suggestions, remember it has to be a small knife

I wouldn't spend 70 bucks in that case. I would spend about 20 for a byrd, SRM, kershaw cryo, or something for now until she gets used to taking care of it. I got my gf a delica right off the bat, and she wasn't so much into knives and she would do horrible things to it out of ignorance. I remember one time she was scraping it on ceramic to get some gunk off.

Now she knows better and I feel comfortable getting her more expensive knives :D

thanks for all the feedback, but I will persist :p! the problem with sak's is that she's "okay" with those, so I want her to accept the fact I like knives without them being "multitools". At the moment I'm hesitating between at dragonfly tattoo and a ladybug, but the dragonfly is on the upper hand, unless someone wants to bash the dragonfly ?:p

I make my girlfriend carry a Cold steel mini lawman clipped inside her purse. Small, light and solid lockup. She never uses it though and forgets its there. She has a really small spyderco on her key rign and uses it from time to time and is always excited to tell me that she used her knife today! lol. But i catch her using her teeth to cut things all the time at home.

Start with a small SAK (I started my GF with a rambler). They are so small that they are unable to be threatening yet they show how important a blade is.

dragonfly, jester, ladybug, grasshopper, honeybee, bug, all from spyderco. all are super small and very usable. the best "little big knives"

Get her the new Kershaw Blur with anodized aluminum spiderweb purple handle. It's around $92 and I think she will like it.

I'll second the Chive. The flipper might be a better selling point in this situation than a Spydie hole. Also, Spydies can be an acquired taste. Of course, once you're hooked on Spydies, there's no going back :)

look into the kershaw leek. you can get it in a few different colors if you just look around. great knife imho.

I'm going to say the Dragonfly. Most non-knife women(from my experience) think the Dragonfly is "cute". So.. it works lol. Get her the Tattoo Dragonfly. She will love it because one it's "Cute" and it's "Pretty" as well. She can clip it in her pocket and take it everywhere. It's small enough she won't think it's scary. It just has a cool little look to it. And the Tattoo version is indeed "Pretty". So, I would pick the Dragonfly for sure. If she could deal with dark green FRN you could get her the Dragonfly 2 with ZDP-189 steel.. but since it's her first knife and she may or may not take to it.. I think the Tattoo Dragonfly is your best bet because it's the prettiest one and she really won't need the upgraded steel.
