Google Ed Caffrey and go to his website. Ed offers classes in NW Montana at his shop. He is well respected. I've seen him teach and speak at a hammer in and you'll learn a lot!

How far north in Idaho are you? There are acouple of good makers in western washington. Or if you like I live just outside of Boise.

I am 15 minutes north of Post Falls in a town called Rathdrum. It's too bad that the Buck factory doesn't put something on.
 
Buck - How to Make Knives with Basic Tooling

Tools and Materials required:
3D CNC Mill, Programmable Heat Treating Furnace, 1 Ton of Bar Stock

Step One - Hire Knife Designer
Step Two - Hire CNC Operator
Step Three - Hire Master Heat Treater

If you ever make it as far east as North Carolina there are some great and very affordable classes here at MCC.
