Looking for a large folder

Had a chance to try out a coworkers pentagon elite II and like the size of it. I thought the handle seemed a bit flimsy and the action was loose. He did say that he uses it for everything though. From slicing to things you probably shouldn't do with a knife.

The spec elite II is still a possibility. The rukus is a bit out of my price range for what this knife will be used for.

Confederate, how do you find the handles on the voyager series? They seem a bit narrow, or is that just the picture?

The zero tolerance knives look nice. I'll take a closer look at those too.

Thanks again.

Did you consider the 0300 series from Kershaw (Zero Tolerance, actually) these are pretty hefty folders. Compare with the 1911-style pistol in the photo.

best folder i have ever had

If you want somthing that does not make you take out a mortage on your house? I would recomend a Buck Omni 12pt. folding hunter. Great knife for the money and tuff as nails. The weight is great also. I love mine and would put it up against any knife yall have talked about.

OK,

Just purchased a lightly used PE II off a forum member. For whatever reason the design is growing on me, serrations or not. Thanks for the input. I'll post when I receive it.

Best,

:thumbup:Cold Steel Voyager:thumbup: - I have the XLg. (5 in.) and it sure is a lot of knife for a folder. The X2 (6 in.) is probably a dang folding sword. I might also add that it was the sharpest out-the-box knife I've ever had. So big and so sharp I've never even carried the darn thing.:D

N.B. this pic is the 5in. XLg. and is slightly smaller than actual size...

Out of curiosity, no one mentioned Strider folder ? The AR looks pretty big to me.

You definitly want the new Benchmade LFK with the 5.2 inch blade and 4 inch handle and a clever
closing mechanism. It is 10+ inches long open. You have to see the knife to understand how they fit a 6 inch blade in a 4 inch handle. I can't explain it. It is also only 100$ and is 440C which is one of the most under rated steels around. It has exactly the same properties as D2 but way more corrosion resistance.

Yes, for the benchmade lfk. handled one the other day. It was pretty ingenious. Proper handle to length ratio. Balance and heft felt good. Handle was very ergo, comfy with the kraton like inserts. Looks better IMHO than sog or coldsteel.

my fav large production folder would be a BM rukus, was the cuda - maxx but they are hard to find now & pricey when ya find one. great knife though, i still have 2 ralph maxx's.

Thank you all for the help. I ended up buying the SOG PE II from a forum member. Received it last night and have to say it's impressive. The blade is tight and. There is no play in the blade and it is sharp as sh...

Wish my seal 2000 was as sharp.

Thanks again, I am still looking at your suggestions.... you can't ever have too many.
