Looking for a leather bag.....?

Yeah.....that's a look I like.
Do you find the strap latches secure.....and may I ask how much weight you have comfortably carried?

Can we see the inside?

Yes the strap latches very secure. I’ve only carried a laptop and files in it. Maybe 8lbs or so. There’s an inside pic at the link I gave.

A small possibles bag where you can put a spare knife, spare powder, bullet mold, ladle, extra bar lead, extra cloth / paper patches, oil /grease.

To the OP: drinking water is more properly carried in canteens. Don't risk getting your powder wet.

You might also want to check out Filson's bags.
They don't make that many leather bags, but I can personally
attest to their heavy duty waxed twill bags. I have one of their older
Sportsman's bags and it's the best thing I've ever purchased.
Looks great in Tan with the dark brown leather straps, and ages beautifully.
I'm sure it'll outlive me. The twill is very beefy and the leather straps are ridiculously
thick and supple. They're not cheap but you know, you get what you pay for.

I’m a little late to this…
I’ve had a BRICS RED suede 22" Life Duffle for 10 years. It’s served me well worldwide traveling. It’s showing it’s age but still very useable. No zipper problems, no tears or seams coming apart. I can absolutely recommend this bag.

I’m in France and I decided to treat myself. I looked for the right style for awhile. Fortunately with spying cookies on your phone, as soon as you look for something, other companies propose their offerings.

Long story short I ended up at the Longchamps store in Paris. The womens boutique is on one side of the street and the Mens on the other side. I left with a LE FOULONNÉ Travel bag L - Navy
My bag
I’ve had it a short time and I’m very happy with it so far and I’m on the TGV train to Paris with it now

Heck, I'm WAAAYYYY late to this, but since it's still rolling...

The Jones 15 or Jones 13 from Nutsac fits the bill. The 15 is a bit bigger and has a dedicated spot for a laptop.

I have a Filson leather messenger bag/briefcase as my work bag . It’s top quality, should see me out to retirement.

I’ve been on a quest for the right bag too, but I don’t mine exists yet. Not that there aren’t a lot great makers out there. Just hard to find something that fits all of the criteria you want.

Hi Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer

A fully made in the USA with US source leather bag will be expensive. We are usually talking about well north of $500.00. The problem is not necessarily the costs of the materials but the costs needed to produce panels from a hide to make a single bag.

So for example you may need three separate hides that have unblemished areas needed to produce a bag with there large panels to stitch together.

I personally use Filson zippered totes. They are less tote like and more like pilot helmet bags. Squarish in shape and made in the USA of imported Twill.

They do use Wickett and Craig as their leather supplier and it’s high quality stuff.

If you are patient they sometimes go on sale once a year but it’s a good bag either way.

I’ve been using the same leather-ish type bag for 47 years and it has held up relatively well to whatever I’ve put it through.

During my military career in the late 90s, I literally traveled the world with it and tried to wear it out, but I was unsuccessful.

It is American made, no zippers, straps, buttons or snaps to wear out. Although if I’m being honest, in the last few years it has begun to develop some sag.

Admittedly, it’s never really carried a ton of weight in it though….just an average set of testicles.

However we just finished developing something a little bigger. Haven't really named it yet but am thinking on The Sage Brush Rambler:

Detachable shoulder strap with lined sliding pad:

The bag is constructed from durable oiltan chap leather with a great pullup effect. Straps and handles are constructed from water buffalo leather.

Double zipper pulls allow ya to open the bag wide or just as far as ya need to get what you are after. At 9"x 20" this bag is sized to fit an airline overhead but I was still surprised at what it held. Just to fill er up for these pics we used six pairs of jeans, six shirts and two bulky wool sweaters.

Heavy water buffalo panels on the bottom protect the bag and give it rigidity:

Looks great! What's something like that run?

Wow, that's a fantastic deal! I've seen much smaller bags that don't look nearly as nice and well put together for much more than that.
Thanks. And handmade. Everything we sell either myself or the wife made it. The wife makes those bags.

Dave, the smaller travel bags on your website look great. Are they a single compartment?
I don't see the new larger bags there, are you sold out already?
