I’m looking for a maker that can do similar work to the knives on the link and their own kydex. Someone with the ability to do milling and access to a water jet would be great. I’m trying to get a knife and tomahawk made for my business before Georgia Bushcraft spring gathering and want to collaborate with someone on the project. There’d be the opportunity to grow and collaborate with other large outdoor gear companies that are already interested as well. Looking for smaller American makers and anyone besides Jed Hornbeak Knives. I already have designs and dimensions for both just need someone willing and capable for the job. Would be doing very simplistic production style designs prioritizing functionality over form to make them more accessible to more people. Absolutely don’t want to sacrifice any quality, I want to do everything to best of our ability for performance and have top quality American made knives and tools but without the unnecessary fancy parts that take more time and cost more money. Would also just make it easier on the maker in the end. I’m thinking to start out doing like 15 or 20 of these simple knives and maybe 10 hawks. Although as things progress and as demand increases would like to do as many as the maker feels confident in doing at a time. Can definitely work with smaller batches at time in the beginning. Would like to find a smaller business where we could invest in them and grow together. If it’s a one man operation hiring a couple guys to help out and buying some machinery. Not trying to own anyone here, the plan would be for them to keep their business and creative freedom while also working with us on the side separately and getting a ton of advertising. Anyways, maybe this is long winded but this is my pitch. Anyone interested please reach out to me directly and we can discuss more details. Would love to hear any suggestions especially for a smaller business that needs some help and deserves to grow.

David Mary David Mary

David is a great guy who can do CAD cut multiples, idk if you are familiar with his work, but he does a range of styles....he's also more colorful design wise, which might suit your needs better. He likes exciting designs.

Other makers might not want to make stuff that isn't their Own, but I know David will work with what the individual wants.

He doesn't work on Sunday. At all.
But if you contact him (he might see this post tomorrow)
He'll reach out.

Good afternoon gentlemen, and thank you Crag the Brewer Crag the Brewer for the kind endorsement. C Cole#357.30 here is a little info to help you decide whether you would like to discuss this possible venture further with me. I have a very small shop with limited equipment, and I would describe myself as a budget custom maker providing excellent geometry, in quality materials with quality heat treatment, great ergonomics, good fit, and medium finish. I consider myself a "do more with less" person in all areas of my life, including knife making.

I am in Canada, so my work is mostly handmade in Canada, except that I use New Jersey Steel baron for waterjet cutting, as well as buy the steel from them. I use Peters Heat Treating. I buy handle materials either from knife supply companies (like Jantz, UsaKnifemaker, and Alpha Knife supply) and individuals (like RockSolidScales and Knife Handle supply, aka Fixall on Bladeforums) in the USA, and resellers in Canada (like Canadian Knifemaker Supply) that buy it from the USA. I buy all my grinding belts from Red Label Abrasives in Michigan. So even though I am in Canada, I strive very much to support American businesses and families.

I make my handle scales by hand, no machining is involved. It will be obvious to look at them that it was done by hand, because it will not have the precision and uniformity of a machine. I grind blades freehand. All is done by eye, with the exception of my apex bevel which I have started scribing since within the last couple months.

My blade finishes at this time are exclusively satin finish only.

Grinding options at this time do not include fullers, but swedges, chisel grinds, American tantos, serrations, and crowned spines are all good to go.

I can provide Boltaron sheaths (more heat resistant Kydex analogue) for all knives I make.

At this time, all my handles are permanently attached with mechanical pins and adhesive.

I won't touch this blade design with a ten foot pole:

You sound absolutely perfect for the job and I’m honored you reached out to me personally. I’m going to try to convince my contact to work with you on this as I think you’re more capable than a lot of American makers. I will say now that their whole deal is being veteran owned and American made/sourced. They are primarily looking for an American business to work with but like I said I will send your info their way. Thanks again and I hope you and your family had a Merry Christmas and have a happy new year.

Thank you so much for the kind reply sir and I look forward to how I can serve you, your associates and customers n the future. Season’s greetings to you and yours as well!
