Looking for a Mega Folder / Pocket Sword

I own every one of those listed ( and few others from Coldsteel) except for recon 1 tanto,ti lite and vaquero. The rajah 2 is another category in my opinion. The size and thickness of the blade and handle along with the leverage you get from holding it the most rear area make it a Serious chopper. The penetration ability is actually also very good despite the look of the blade shape. The point is actually in a really good position for that. The handle does stick out a bit though because of the position of the pocket clip. However I think with an untucked shirt or jacket it can be easily covered. If you want a folder that can actually be used as a chopper/machete then this is the one. It is built like a tank.

Let us know what you end up picking.

I agree 100%, the rajah II is a great user out of those listed; mine has seen extensive use clearing trails and it still locks up tight. Quite a performer for the price IMO... My R II has been hand sanded with 220 grit to get rid of built up crud and rust on the blade so it looks a bit worn. I've also ground a penetrator point on it as it was getting kinda blunt from some impacts with 55 gallon steel drums. :foot::D

I'd stay away from the recurve blades, I bet they would be a PITA to sharpen and personally I find them to be kind of mall-ninjaish.

I'm interested in what exactly is it that attracts you to a huge folder? I've never felt drawn to one, and am just curious about what makes you like them. Please understand that I'm not making fun of you, I just like to understand the other side of the coin. I'm sure you wouldn't like many of the knives that get me going. Personal taste and all that.

for me, size = capability in serious situations
XL clip point Voyager and XL Tanto Point Voyager,
My Rat 1 is for cleaning my fingernails and opening letters,
my Voyager is for everything else...
No I dont NEED a pocket machete, but the fact is: more sharp steel > Less (therefore politically correct) sharp steel.

Talwar is a good choice. I have got a regular one and enjoy it very much. I only wish the blade spine were not straight buy more "Persian".

Have you considered the Extrema Ratio RAO... I saw a video of Noss destroy a 2x4 or something. Its N690 steel and seems to be built tougher than a tank.

For me, I EDC a delica with a convexed edge. It works just fine for me.

Don't know if you ever got a pocket sword, but this thread, and Jim's gift of the 4" TiLite got me thinking about the 6" TiLite I "lost" so I reordered another one, again in the aluminum handled version. Here's a pic of it with my two ZT0600's, note the mall-ninjaish recurve blades on the ZT's.

There are some inexpensive ones here: http://www2.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_store.html?usrsearch=hawke They don't have pocket clips but are hefty with a curious blade shape. The little spikes are useless IMO as they don't lock open. I just took them off. Bought one on a whim, they are fun to flick and seem pretty solid. Although I haven't used it hard yet. Also there is this:http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/CS...lding-Knife-6-inch-Serrated-Blade-G10-Handles I have wanted to get one but other purchases had higher priority. The 6" TiLite is a surprising stout knife and cuts well for it's blade profile. The 4" version cuts even better. The Ti-Lites excel at stabbing. I was able to get hold of a 6" Vaquero Grande and Explorer 2X before they disappeared. They are great knives also. I think this is the biggest Cold Steel folder:http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/CS...lding-knife-7-12-bead-blast-blade-g10-handles. I am just under 6' and can get a two handed grip on all of the 6" versions.

I've got a few C.S. brutes. Of them all I prefer the Espada large the most. It is still pocketable for it's size. The extra parts on the handle do not bother me, I just use it like a regular knife, do not try and extend my grip. The XL is too big for pocket carry, and sticks out too far. I do carry it occasionally, but in my waistband. Works really great like that.
