First to the Mods, Please move If I don't have this in the correct area.

OK, I want to explore having a couple of my Patterns ground by someone else. I would like to hear from other makers that had direct experience with having another shop grind blades for them for a Mid-tech line of my knives I want to try. Know any beast of a grinder/shop that knows what they are doing and can grind some of my patterns for me?

I'll do the handles, I can only grind so many in a day and I am exploring having a second price point lower than my hand made knives.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Laurence, the go to guys for some folks are Larkin Precision which is in Oregon, IIRC. The bad news is that they have a 200 blade per pattern minimum order. That was the same at at Lamson and Goodnow before they closed up their shop.

Lamson has reorganized and has moved to a new shop. I buy some of their production stuff for resale.
I'm not sure if they are taking in outside work currently?

I have about 30-70 blades already water jet cut and some Heat Treated that I want to have someone grind for me.

Thanks, I will check out Larkin and see?.

Pierre Rodrique has a midtech like and obviously Hoss had the ITK line. You might want to ask them. I think that Bill Burke was also working on one at some point.

Larkin is in Kent Washington:

They grind knives for several companies and knifemakers.

Chuck,
Thank you. I tracked down their site. That may be a long term goal. Im looking for someone that can do around 50 blades or less for starters.
