Looking for a new daypack

My favorite pack is my Source Tactical Assault, it's perfect for day hikes and the bladder is fantastic.
I got it from a company in Israel for like $75 imported..

A few months ago I had a chance to buy a new USMC Issue Tactical One-Day Assault Pack for $40, but didn't like the camo color. Looking back it was probably a mistake because it was a heck of a bag for the price.

What else should I be looking at in the 20-25L range, solid color, really well built, durable, with good zippers? Can that be found under $110? This will be an EDC to work, trips, and weekend hikes.

I had to look up the backpack you mentioned. I don't think you will find a bacpack that will suit you well in both main uses (EDC to work and hiking). For me hiking is all about going light and fast, good suspension system to allow to carry whatever needs to be carry. Most of the alpine climbing / mountaineering packs suggested by the forumites fit this criteria. Daily use requires a more rugged pack, something closer to the pack you mentioned. At least for my use I can't see how a climbing pack could endure carrying a laptop, books (think sharp corners which may ruin the fabric if you bang it agains something hard). You will not need a great suspension system, not even a belt, if you only need to carry your pack from your house to the trunk or bus or whatever you use for commuting.

I truly think you need two differnt packs. For daily use the one you mentioned looks great, although I would skip the cammo pattern. It will also work for trips, where you use it more as luggage than a backpack. But you definitely need something diffeent for hiking.

The camo pattern is why I skipped it because otherwise it was a great deal.

If you haven't decided yet, check out the Specialist backpacks from First Tactical. I just got the 3-Day (56L) and 1-Day (36L) in black. I haven't put them through the wringer yet, but they seem to be very well designed and made. They also offer a Half-Day model (25L).

I haven't had a chance to buy anything. I wanted to get to REI to look at the ones I could see at a local retail store, but haven't had the time with the holidays and trying to catch up afterwards. That is another nice looking suggestion. I don't think I'll have a problem finding a good option.

If you go into a certain Cinco Grande Artículos Deportivos website, they have a 20% off coupon/10% off sale items. In store they have an identical pack to the Condor 3 day assault for about $70. Or on the website they have a 1 day pack for $30. Both with made with 1000D cordura. WFS is what the brand is called. Both prices prior to the discount.

I already have both packs under the Condor brand. But earlier today I picked up the WFS 3day for my 17yo's upcoming 18th bday. COMPLETELY IDENTICAL, to my Condor 3day Assault pack save the brand patch. $56 before tax, can't beat it with a stick. I paid $90 for my Condor, which I don't regret, because it has been fantastic.

I have two mystery ranch packs- the sweet pea and street fighter. They are not cheap (I got the street fighter on sale) but they are bomber and I have really used them hard and never thought twice about it.

This is a great recommendation, Mystery Ranch, even their imported bags, are top notch. They just expanded their EDC line.

Most EDC type bags don't 'hang' right for hiking, and most hiking type bags are too light to be strong enough for rough daily use. I prefer my ATS 2.6, because I prefer the simpler load lifters and the "empty lightweight cube" style, but I can't recommend Mystery Ranch highly enough. Something like the Streetfighter would be great for a bag that is tough enough for every day use, but comfortable enough for a dayhike or light overnighter.

I have 511 Rush, Maxpedition, Kelty and an older Blackhawk. I have been very pleased with all these companies. Oh, and I bought my daughter an Osprey which she loves.
