At the moment the only knives I own are:
Ontario Rat 1
Spyderco Delica 4
SAK Fieldmaster II
Leatherman Wingman

I've had others that I ended up selling only because I was tight for cash.

At one time I had:
Spyderco
-PM2
-Manix 2 G10
-Native 5 G10
-Resilience
-Southard
-Techno

ZT 0350

Kershaw:
-Blur S30V
-Leek

Buck 110

And I think that's all of them...

Anyways I've been hoping to get a knife that I can rely on. I love my Rat 1 but the aus 8 leaves a lot to be desired and gets chipped pretty easily.

My budget will be $125. I feel that's a fair price point to get upgraded steel and fit and finish. I don't mind getting something I used to have, but I'm hoping someone suggests something new. I love g10, don't like recurves or tantos. I'm not a fan of back locks unless it's easy enough to use one handed like my Delica.

Any help?

Benchmade griptillian ( pardon my spelling ) good steel easy to use one handed lightweight around 90is I think theres G10 versions of it I could be wrong ive been out of knives for a bit

How about a Spyderco Sage? The Sage5 in one of my favorite EDCs and has a texture similar to G10, and its kinda in between the Native and PM2 size wise.

Kizer Vangaurd Gemini or Intrepid are both super nice for the money.

Watching the exchange for a used ZT could work in your budget as well. An 0801, 0450, or even a 0560 user might show up under $130.

I'd say pick up a Native5 LW or Manix2 LW, but I have a feeling that is not what you are looking for. The new Native MAXAMET is on sale for $130 at a place I don't think I can mention. That would be a great steel for you to play with.

Pm2 is great, but consider a Military. Once you get used to the size. There isn't much a Military can't handle with ease. An unapologetic work horse.

I'm about to cut up some rolls of carpet this week to fit in trash bags. I can't think of a better knife for the job than a Military.

I've got to watch myself on choices lately. Some knives are just better couch knives, and some are better in action. I'd prefer to acquire more of the latter.

I second the PM2. Also consider a Rat 1 with D2. ESEE Avispa in D2, Cold Steel Recon 1 in CTS-XHP, Real Steel Megalodon in 14C28N, Kizer Velox in VG10, Kizer KI405 in S35VN, Stedemon ZKC D01 in 440C, Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter in CTS-XHP, are all good knives for mid range lower priced knives.

ZT 0560/0561 are discontinued and as such, it would be very less likely for the op to get one at $125 that is in decent shape (a heavy user, maybe).

Here's the problem, with the OPs over 100 already active recommendation threads, most if not all that will be recommended here has been recommended before most of which to be dismissed for one reason or another. Very difficult to keep track of what he does or doesn't like. Lots of repeat information.

OP, if you like the RAT why not get it in D2 instead of AUS8?

If you hurry you can still get a Ritter griptilian from knifeworks it costs $139.95 but it has m390 blade steel and is now discontinued. Plus it has the axis lock which means it is a fun knife to flick while sitting on the couch. Or if you want a mini griptilian they have them for $129.95 and they also have m390 blade steel.

A ZT 0566 would fit the bill. The only thing I'm not particularly fond of is that it's spring assisted. They designed it so you can turn it into a manual, but for me it just didn't flip very well so I put the torsion bar back in. For being as big and heavy as it is, it rides great in the pocket. I have the carbon fiber/Elmax version and ZT's Elmax is great.

barmettlerjosh had a fantastic recommendation too. My Ritter mini Griptilian is fantastic.

I just saw a black G10 Essee Zancudo in D2 for $33 shipped. That's a hell of an option! You'd have $92 left to buy more knives with ;)

Benchmade Griptilian. There are several designs, they are well made, the Axis lock is strong and easy to use.

There are a ton of great options out there with a 125 dollar budget. To name a few other options, beginning with most recommended:
1. Paramilitary2
2. Manix 2
3. Kershaw Blur with CPM S30V blade steel since you mentioned upgrading
4. Manix 2 Lightweight, CTS BD1 steel is a slight upgrade from AUS 8, some put it on par with VG10.
5. Spyderco Centofante
7. Benchmade Griptilian or Mini Griptilian
A lot of these are actually under your budget but still well worth the money.

If you can find one, a lightly used Benchmade grip or mini-grip with gray g-10 and 20cv steel.

I can't provide a link because they're not a paid vendor, but over at MassDrop they currently are offering the Ferrum Forge Falcon for $124.99 with free shipping. It's hands down the most knife for the money of any of the ones you've owned or others have suggested in this thread. Awesome design from the guys at FF, manufactured by WE knives with impeccable quality. Ti framelock with S35VN steel, bearing flipper with ceramic detent ball, sculpted pocket clip, steel lock bar insert...you can't go wrong!

Only downside is you'll have to wait for them to produce the knives with delivery projected for November...

Someone has a lot of time on their hands. And you're actually quite wrong. It's not that I dismiss a knife. It's just that my financial situation is constantly changing and so are the uses for my knives. Which explains my threads. And the majority of the time I'm getting recommendations that don't follow the specifications I mention.

As for having the Rat 1 in aus 8, it was gifted to me to replace my original Rat 1 that I abused. Besides, I'd rather spend $30 on the original Rat 1 and replace it than spend more on the d2 version because although the materials are upgraded, the fit and finish, lack of jimping, liner lock and ergonomics leave a lot to be desired. So for future reference don't assume. It makes an ass out of you and me :)

A lot of time and my hands like starting over 100 recommendation threads only to end up with 4 knives after 3 years? Did you learn nothing from all those? At a certain point you have been here long enough and asked enough questions that these threads get redundant and you should have some clue about how to pick your own knife. You have gotten a ton of advice here. Use some of it.

So those are good things to know about the RAT 1. You left those out when you mentioned you loved the RAT 1 except the steel. That is why I mentioned the upgrade with D2. Might help to mention that stuff in the OP in order to not get advice that you don't want. You have given us practically nothing to go on in the OP but budget. Hopefully you can get a bit more detailed so we can help you better :)
