Looking for a new EDC

Hi John E Woven -

You may want to look at a Kershaw Leek (if AO is ok) or a Zing (if you prefer a flipper). They are both great little knives - 3" blade, and inexpensive.

I have both and like them both - very nice daily carry knives.

The blades are not for prying, they have delicate tips, but man can they cut up and apple or open a box or slice clam-packs.

I have a mini-griptilian, it is nice as well, but it was $20 more than either of the aforementioned Kershaws.

Check out kershawguys blemishes - a great price for a EDC that may get lost or beat up badly.

Good luck with your choosing!

best regards -

Get the Cabelas D2 Mini Grip. For speed of deployment and strength of lock you it is tough to be the Griptilians.

Save yourself time and money and get the Mini Grip of your choice. Of all the knives I have owned present and past the Mini Grip is first rate. As for the black coated blades they will scratch or wear over time. Most of the coating can be eaisly removed leaving a grey looking blade. The Mini Grip and the full size Grips are USA made.

What's the cheapest place I can get a benchmade knife at ? (the mini-grp, in paticular)

I can see knifecenter has it at about $63, but everyone else seems to be much higher. Is there a better place?

John... the three options you mentioned look to me to be great choices. I have the full size Barrage and it's a heck of a knife... but the mini is arguably a better choice for EDC.

You discounted liner locks, but I have to say... today I picked up a Kershaw Leek stainless. I've only had it a day, but this is a very impressive knife for a moderate amount of money. It would be a top choice as a nice gift to give my best friend as well.

Looking at the Presidio-mini.. it feels more solid with the full length liner vs. the Griptilian, but they both feel good. I guess the Griptilian has an arguably better blade material. I've been checking out the Presidio and Griptilian myself and I'm sure one of those is in my future as well.
