Looking for a new Friction folder

Another custom maker to look at is Willem O'Kelly in South Africa. His friction folders are very popular on the british knife forums. They're also beefy. So if you want a real slicer, at 3mm thick the blade may not be as slicey as you'd like. Same with Mike Morris', since he uses the full thickness of the file to start with. Of course their all fine knives. I have one of Mr. O'Kelly's on order to go with my Morris FF. Really love the look of that Quattromori!

Call me weird but...
I was raised with friction folders, and I love them. And I still see no point in the extended tang.
European traditional friction folders (such as Opinel's, taramundi's, and Sardinian knives of course) don't have that, and they work just as fine, being way less obtrusive. My two cents though

Fausto

Totally agree! I do not see any use for the long tang either. That is beauty Fausto!

I enjoy my JD Van Deventer, and Kosie and Willem Steenkamp friction folders. The 3 South African makers have formed a sort of consortium, check out knifeafrica.com

Snody for sure, but I gotta admit I don't like that the newer $-edition friction folder scales are shorter towards the blade- it leaves that gap where the stop pin cutout is and offers less finger protection than, say, on his older economist friction folders.

I would suggest a Sardinian friction folder. However, I don't think it will arrive in your timeframe. If you google "Vittorio Mura", click on the first site and take a look. The price conversion is odd for the English site but the price is around $200 in reality. If you view in Italian you see the price in Euros.
