Looking for a new knife, with THIN handle

Kershaw Dividend in M390 is an incredibly thin blade... and paired with the deep carry clip, it is super easy to put in your pocket and forget about it.

Bugout would be my other suggestion. Thicker handle than the Divident, but not as wide.

since you're in France, you can easily get to Italy and maybe get a deal on this Lion opera blade - it's really quite nice, with d2 steel (not fully stainless but almost) (it's only $83 on this side of the atlantic)

Doesn't get much slimmer than the Benchmade 330, which I've carried more than any other knife (over a decade of exclusive EDC).

Too bad you've ruled out the Bugout, it is a fantastic knife.

The boker exskelibur 1 and 2 are very thin and around $150. Titanium frame lock, s35vn, both under 3oz I believe.

I dont own either of those knives but I know a few members here love them.

I like thin folders, at the extremely thin end of the scale is a Sandvik/Bahco K-A-P-1 at 5mm thick, & an EKA executive is a ridiculous 4mm thick.
Both are lock-backs though............

Massdrop Ferrum Forge Gent select. It's the bottom one.

Hi guys :)

Thanks again for all the suggestions

I'd prefer not to buy second hand. So any discontinued or too high above my budget options won't do the trick. Sorry ^^'

The Sandvik and EKA options are nice little knives, however they are more on the traditionnal slipjoint side of the force. I'm after something more modern, since I'm already covered by both my Doukdouk and my Higonokami.

The Gent X Massdrop is gorgeous and seems like a great value for money. Sadly, one has to wait 'till july to hopefully get one, it is a bit too short for my taste, and above all, it is listed as thicker than a Bugout. But definitly nice to know it does exist :)

After a second look, I've seen the Al Mar is AUS-8 :( Would it have S30V or something, I might have given it a shot. But at least in France, it's exactly the same price as a 940, and almost double the price of a Bugout or Code4. What is it that command such a price tag ? Cause that knife is super tenting to my eye, but I can't really see where the money goes on that one. Can somebody explain ?

Kershaw Dividend in M390. Boy, that's a great value for money in the USA  I was shocked. But it seems that it is almost impossible to source one in m390 in Europe. I'm still looking around just in case. The shape is still quite scary, but knife seems good. Are Kershaws considered good ?

Lastly, the Boker. Damn, I thought that was it. But I've seen something strange, and I'd greatly appreciate if someone can provide some more info. Apparently, you have two choices for this Exskelibur. Either D2 and G10, or S35VN and CF/titanium. And apparently, the D2/G10 is 0.35 inches thick at the handle whereas the S35VN CF or titanium is 0.52. Is there so much of a difference ? Is it not a typo ? Cause if the S35VN versions are 0.35 in handle thickness, I might have my new knife.

Once again, thanks a lot to everybody involved. Hoping to have more infos on the questions it raised to me :)

It’s probably worth taking a look at the new Spyderco Ikuchi. Seems to hit on a bunch of your criteria. There are already some YouTube videos on it.

Kershaws are great and the Dividend is a wonderful EDC if you are OK with the spring assisted opening. I swapped out the clip for a deep carry one. The standard 420HC version is good to go if you can't find the M390 version.

The Massdrop gent is one of the best knives they have produced.

Boker Plus quality has disappointed me enough times to never buy Boker again.

The Exskelibur comes in two blade lengths, 2.8 (Exskelibur II) and 3.5 inches (Exskelibur I). The 3.5" titanium/S35VN is 0.52" thick, and the 2.8" version is 0.32" thick. I think you were comparing different blade lengths.

I've just emailed Spyderco on the Ikuchi. It seemed awesome except that I was fearing quite a weak point due to the blade shape. Sadly, the knife is around the 11mm mark in thickness, so it's probably a bit too thick, espicially considering I was doubting the blade shape already. But I really thought it might do the job

Oh, the Dividend has a spring mechanism ? If so that renders it completly illegal in France as it would be considered a Switchblade :/

I've researched the Massdrop Gent a bit more. I must admit, it is tenting, but I do not really want to wait that long. I could potentially buy one this summer if it is available at that moment. And still, tchickness wise, the Bugout is thinner, and available now.

You're not the first one that I see doubting Boker quality, that's a bit off putting to me to say the least ^^'

Here is a quick and dirty snapshot of the two SOGs I mentioned, the Access Card 2.0 and Ultra C-Ti (with bonus dust and cat hair):

This isn't a great shot, but they're both about 5mm thick (the Access Card is thinner slightly than the Ultra C-Ti):

I leave the clip off the Access Card and use it as a very flat pocket knife sometimes, and I kept the ginormous flat clip on the C-Ti because I use occasionally as a money clip.

They're SOG and only feature VG-10, but they work well in practice and have their totally-not-an-AXIS-lock-clone ARC lock mechanism which works very well.

How thick is the handle on the TRM Neutron? I had one for a bit and it was quite thin.

Edit: BHQ lists it at 0.32".

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned yet since I haven’t read every post but the Kershaw Leek is a nice thin knife that may meet your perimeters. Very thin and cuts like a laser. Blade steel is 14C28N which is a very good stainless steel.

BladeHQ is corect. There is a slight variance in liner thickness-thickness may be .340." Marianne H. Co-Owner TRM
