In my collection I currently have a paramilitary 2, a benchmade 940 1701, a benchmade 950bk, a benchmade 551-1, a spyderco tasman, a rat1, a couple victorinox knives, and several cheapo knives. After all of this, my desire for new knives refuses to go away. Any suggestions? I looked at a zt0452, an ultratech, and even considered a we knives 702, but nothing really hooked me. I can't find a knife that really calls to me, so I'm open to any suggestions

Sorry for the block off text
Do you have a budget in mind?

Based off of what you have had I would say it is time to consider a ZT. Maybe a ZT0801Ti or ZT0562.

$300 is probably the most I could spend at the moment. The zt0562 looks like a pretty good knife, and I've heard good things about. Probably about time I get a ZT

What has kept the knives you have from calling to you? That might help narrow down the recommendations.

Looking for a knife that looks unique without looking crazy. I also like a knife that I can use hard without worrying about it breaking. The problem is that I keep finding knives that are too outlandish or too utilitarian

Based on that, and given that your're already leaning towards the ZT0562, I suspect you'll like it. It's an amazing knife, exceptionally comfortable in hand, fun to use, and highly functional without looking utilitarian.

You need a Protech. Some push button goodness in your life. I like the TR-3, the Newport, and the Whiskers.... oh and all the rest of them too.

Dang, the TR-3 is one nice looking knife, and so is the Newport with carbon fiber. Do you happen to know how the newport's s35vn compares to the tr-3's 154cm?

You might have sold me, thanks a lot for the help!

Used Chris Reeve can be obtained for a price within your range. I think you would be very happy with that for an EDC option.

It helps if we know what tasks you want to use the knife for. The Spyderco Gail Bradley 2 and 1 are some of the best folding work knives ever made.

Or the Spyderco P'kal. My personal favourite knife for urban self defense.

There are also rescue knives among myriad other types of knife that could be carried every day. So what is it you plan on using your new blads for.

And don't you dare say "cutting"

The Newport is very thin, so in most practical applications they're about the same. I'm a big fan of both steels.

Why not look for a quality Traditional knife?
Most will stand upright next to your wallet and you will forget you even have it on you until you want to cut something. The patina will mark it's stories that you two make, and as you grow attached to it, it will show on the blade.

Take a look at the GEC Beer Scout for a cap lifter in an EDC friendly package. Aside from that a GEC 85 makes for a nice shorter carry, and a GEC 48 Improved Trapper makes for a nice longer two bladed option.

Another option would be a GEC 38 Orchard Gem for a different blade profile that Really shines in an EDC package/complimentary blade. Plus, it is available for under $90 in Micarta.

Mostly breaking down cardboard boxes and cutting rope and straps

Alright, I'm hearing a lot of people saying zt, and I've definitely been considering one, seeing that my collection is almost entirely benchmade and spyderco. Protech is also looking attractive, and I've always wanted an auto since I was a kid (practicality can surely be debated).
I appreciate everyone's input, you have all supplied me with plenty of options to consider. I've got to go read up some and see if I can't make up my mind. I'll update when I make my choice, if anyone cares

While never owning one, in my time in the internet knife community I have never once heard someone say a bad thing about Protechs.

Not so fast. You don't own a ZT0350 in M390? Everyone needs to try that knife. Its kind of beefy but so worth it. It's like a law or something. Another type of knife is a quality OTF.
