looking for a pack

well ive decided to bite the bullet and buy 2 packs, a maxpedition or similar smaller pack for the smaller stuff, and closer to january, a larger pack (still havnt decided on brand) for the guyana trip.

TDalhgren - the Guyana trip will have no resupply, going to be in the jungle for 10-15 days straight, with my uncle and some local Amerindians.

A Camel back TRIZIP which has the Mystery Ranch suspension system. For the money it is the best pack out there.

10-15 days is going to take a pretty large volume pack, you won't be encumbered by a sleeping and insulating layers in the jungle, but 10-15 days of just food is a large volume (and fair bit of a bit of weight, figuring roughly 1.5#/day for typical backpacking fare )- you're going to want a large-ish pack, probably somewhere in the 80 (or +) liter range

i have the camelbak trizip and its money. i actaully sold my mystery ranch 3 day pack and grabbed it instead. they are pretty close to the same i just like the extra pockets and what not on the camelbak. they are money. for a good 1-3 day hike it can hold most everything you need no problem. they are solid for sure. i would like it to be just a bit bigger but it still gets the job done no problem. one of these days i will do a full review on it

You might want to look at Kelty's new line of Redcloud packs. I was looking at the 110 and 90 yesterday in a store and was pretty impressed with it and wont break the bank.

older thread, but here's my 2 cents anyway.... Frost River Timber Cruiser Jr. I have three of their packs and they all carry very well and look great doing so. I've owned tons of bags both military style and backpacking style. I feel that simple is better at this point of my life. Some may disagree - but there worth the look and bombproof for a traditional pack.

I'll throw the Eberle V69 into the mix... if you get bit by shipping and import costs, the best way to do it is cry only once.

I do not own one yet, but Karrimor SF has a couple of modular packs as well. Nice light profile with MOLLE up the wazoo. They also have zip-on wing pockets that increase the volume by a thousand cubic inches. Great for multipurpose use.

I would suggest looking at the youtube videos
you can see many of the packs on bodies, see how
they load etc....
I would also think about a used one.
Might save you a ton of money on import fees
(if they give a discount for used)
Lot of older, really good packs,on the secondary market.
I grabbed an older Arc'Teryx RT45 for 90 bucks.
I think that was a steal.
