Looking for a pivot that is 0.235" diameter

I want to replace the pivot of my Steel Will folder knife, the existing diameter is 0.235" and 0.41" length. I have no luck finding this diameter. I can easily grind the length down if I get a longer length.

Anyone have suggestion where I can find that?

thanks

Alan

I don't understand .... that's what you were looking for ? Should be good with D2 and a little bit of lube.
You mean the #304 or any stainless steel? My experience is if the two stainless steel of wrong composition rub against each other, they rub each other off.

This happen to my 9mm S&W semi auto. They must have use wrong material, if I just rack the slide like 10 time, even with oil, the oil turn dark showing that something is rubbing off. I end up have to use motor oil(10-40) to mitigate this as 10-40 is thicker than gun oil.

If I can find titanium ones, that would be perfect.

Knives and guns, at least you are equal opportunity.

Any time 2 pieces of any steel rub together, there is wear.
I think S&W has been building guns long enough to know what materials to use.
Why would you want to change the pivot?
I don't take for granted S&W always know what they are doing. I look at result. I own a lot of S&W guns, that's the only one that has that problem. It's obvious, like I said, I racked the slide like 10 times I can see the brand new oil on a clean gun turning dark grey. Also more importantly, when I first got the gun, the slide to frame was very tight, it got loose very fast with free play side by side.

I did gun smithing before, I accurized my Colt Gold Cup, squeezing the slide so there's no free play between slide and frame. Been firing it for a lot of rounds, never got loose. It did not wear out like the S&W. Motor oil really helped a lot.

Blue steel never have this problem. I don't buy stainless steel guns since.

The knife I was talking is Steel Will Censor F13A1. I notice the pivot pin and the screw can get scratch easier than the Warbot. The material used for the pivot and the screw seems particularly soft. So I want to change it. It is a very robust knife in all the rest of the design, it deserves a better pivot pin.

I am also looking around where to buy the pivot pin for the Steel Will Warbot. That can be used on the Censor for sure. BUT problem is I think Steel Will is out of business, I don't manage to contact them, their website won't work anymore.

…… I was issued both 4506 and 6906 S&Ws at different points in my career with little issue. Galling was worked out by S&W in the 70s. What vintage are you talking ?
