It actually looks more like a simple weave than a braid. But it is flat and wide. It goes from the rear lanyard hole to the front hole at the base of the blade (a talon hole?).

I've been trying to find it for a while, but for some reason, I can't search the forums, it just takes me to a blank page.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Here's my variation:

I started by folloing KAAK's most excellent tutorial:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=354105

Mine (the main, inner one) has four strands of paracord running from talon to rear so that the d-guard is symmetrical side-to-side. It takes some effort to get all the strands through the holes though. It would have been easier to have used a thinner type of cord (instead of true 550) or take out some or all of the inner fibres. But I didn't want to. The two cords in the centre of the braiding are put together and wrapped over as if they are just one cord; the centre one in KAAK's tutorial.

The end is usually either just tied and cut short, or braided into a lanyard tail. I made it into a second d-guard instead, by tying successive square knots (video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwZXv_9uS6E ) and securing back at the talon end.

The blank page when searching means that the search engine was overloaded by finding too many hits. It's not a very good search engine... you have to try to come up with less common search terms.

if you eliminate the third strand it makes a much simplier much quicker version that looks just as good
