Hi All,
Just about 3 years ago we lost a friend on the forums by the name of Shane Ivie. Shane was taken from us early in his knifemaking and I don't think there are a lot of his knives out there. I've been thinking about him the last few days, and I sure wish I had one of his knives to remember him by.
So...anyone out there have a Shane Ivie they would be willing to part with?
Mace

Thinking of you Shane...

He answered a few questions for me, seemed like a great guy.

Hey Ryan,
Shane was a member here. He died in his sleep one night only 38 years old, he had a wife and five kids. He made some pretty straight foward knives...and he was a good guy.

Do you have any of his knives at all?

No, I don't have one of his knives....kinda why I started the thread. I would love to have one...just to have one.
If anyone has a pic of one of his knives please feel free to post it.

I got to meet Shane and his lovely wife at a forum party for CK&G many years ago. It was the only time I met him , but man the guy was sure likeable. Great to talk with and a very talented makers who left us way before he had reached his prime.

I think about his wife and kids each year at Christmas.

I never got to meet Shane, but based on his posts he gave the impression of a super nice guy who was really into his family.

Sometimes the good folks are taken from us too soon. I don't understand why, but he left a good foot-print.

Hello,

This Is Shane's 19 year old Son Conner, as far as i am aware, every knife my father had complete was Distributed among the family, Brothers and Children, these Knives are Priceless and unattainable, I recently received a Good Chunk of the Machinery and Gadgets Forge, etc.

To the people who were able to meet him, He was Definately a guy you could never forget and it was a terrible tragedy to lose him in his sleep a few years back..

I was actually lucky enough to attain 3 knives for myself in a late night Garage raid lol... (i had the key and needed to get away from everyone) :D

this popped up when i googled his name...( meant to google my name, same middle name and last name) so i figured i would give y'all some clarity and information on the subject.

Edit: The Skinning Knife posted above also Had a sister, It was Used To gut my first deer,

Mace, If you were able to get a Hold on one of these, im going to congrats you, cuz me my uncle and Grandfather,(who made it tthrough the cancer Battle) spent weeks trying to track down and buy whatever knives we could back from the purchasers :)

Wow! How cool is that Mace? The web can be a great thing.

Hey Conner, sounds as though, you and your family are doing well.
Do you make or have you thought of making knives?
Good luck with your future.

God bless Keith

Hey Conner,
Did your mom tell you I wanted you to have the small "SideKick" your dad got from me? It was his last custom that he purchased and I contacted her about getting that to you.

Great this thread was started!! I still think of Shane from time to time and I am glad others do as well.

Conner if I am remembering correctly you started to make a few knives yourself. How is that going??

Conner , met your mom and dad at the CKG party during SHOT show 2006. It was a great time , very talented man and friendly as the day is long.

Conner,
It's very nice to hear your grandfather is doing well.
Glad you can join us here....I hope you stick around some.
I never had the chance to meet your father, but we were friends here and I know he was a great man.
I'm glad you guys have some of your dads knives. I'll still keep an eye out for one.;)

Hello, Conner,

I spent many an hour chatting with your dad in the online Paltalk knifemakers' chat, and carry his memory fondly.
I hope that your family has gotten back on its feet both emotionally and financially after the sudden terrible tragedy of his loss.
Best wishes to you and your family.

I actually don't speak to my stepmom anymore... she has that knife, and at the next family party i will receive it, i was terribly pissed off that when my pop's died she let my cousins ransack whatever they wanted from my room...

I actually do not make knives myself... it was something my Pop's did and i joined him on the weekends when i was at his house, as a bonding activity, for a while i started making some Throwing knives(perfectly balanced , Of course) and a few smaller Skinner's i actually took the time and Finished up a Tanto style knife that my Pop's had started. it was paid for by a friend of the family, "Chainsaw" haha

but as far as continuing the knife making, i probably wont. Doing that tanto blade, brought up a lot of unwanted emotions, because not only was i doing something that we used to do together i was finishing his work and using his equipment. a lot of Anger(the way he passed and the causes), sadness, Grief, Regret, came up... i rather not feel those, i still have a love of Blades and Collect other's works... like a Lifesize Replica Of Frostmourne, Anyone who knows Warcraft, knows this blade, that SideKick will definately be a Great addition. :)

Thanks for the support... i still love coming around these forums.... and i will probably be coming for advice.. not about blades, but forging nonetheless... im attempting to make scale armor.

Also, i believe one of the Guys on here bought my very first work.

Conner,
I can understand your feelings. I think it's one of the hardest things in life to deal with. And I can understand not wanting to feel the pain. I think for everyone its a little different...some will get past it faster than others.
We are here if ya need someone to lean on.

Maybe you could post a pic or two of your dads work or a pic of him here so we can celebrate his life a little bit.:D
Mace
