Looking For a Slim Spyderco for EDC

i work in an office, so similar need for slim/not huge and bulky.
the chaparral is awesome. slim, profile is slighty smaller than a sage. the gen 1 has textured CF scales which look good. flat grind, slices like a demon. not really a 'hard' use blade because it's slim. back lock. great slicer. deep pocket clip which i also dig to be unobtrusive.

good luck in your search!

The chaparral is extremely thin if you'd stray for USA or Japanese models as this one is Taichung Taiwan

Taichung is the home of some of the nicest knives Spyderco manufactures IMHO. Regardless of where Spyderco knives are made, their QC is consistently spot on.  :)

I would reconsider the Taichung Taiwan knives.
They're amazing in fit and finish.

This being said, I'll recommend a few.
Sage 2 - Although it's wide, it's still thin, If thin is the issue then the wideness shouldn't be a problem.

Chokwe - You seem to like bigger knives - Well this guy is big but super thin and not ridiculously wide - It looks a little odd but is extremely ergonomic and makes a great EDC. My favorite Spyderco by far.

Chaparral - CF or Ti, this is a super thin knife and excellent for EDC. I would get the Ti version with CTS-XHP steel. =]

If you must have Japan or USA made, you can't go wrong with the Caly 3 or 3.5 in CF/ZDP-189 steel.

I did some eyeball measuring and I agree, the hole does make the blade taller which is one thing I am trying to avoid. I ended up ordering a limited run Benchmade Mini Griptilian with an S30V blade for a terrific price. It should fit the need nicely. Thanks all!

Loved the Caly 3.5. I thought it had hand fitting ergonomics in all positions, a great edc length, good grippy g10 and jimping, and a classically good back lock. Also, it just looks damn cool with the leaf shaped blade (and if I remember correctly it is ffended up losing it while orienteering in kinzua, which I am still bummed about to this day. However, my wonderful lady got me a native, which is imho equally great in its own right: super light, the best ergonomics, a super steel, the classic back lock, and again it just looks awesome. So I'd go either caly 3.5 or native.

Sorry if someone already said this stuff, I didn't read the whole thread.

Also, I'm all about trying new brands (I'm saving for a benchmade, those big ones aren't cheap, but I know its quality), but my brother has the 530 and us about as slim, light, and edc friendly as can be. Plus it has a cool spear shape blade.

Wow, I just realized for the first time I have a ththing for spear/leaf shaped blades.

Spyderco Chaparral is super thin.

Caly and Sage 1/2 are good choices too.
