Looking for a small gentlemans pocket knife any ideas?

Case mini Copperlock, all sorts of scales to choose from and it sits well in suit pants pockets.

This is what I use for dress up. It has a clip, but it comes off easily. Spyderco Sage2 RIL Ti.

It's tough to beat William Henry for an elegant, high quality gentleman's knife.

True enough, WH knives are like the Sebenza of small EDC knives, and with a price to match too(over $400 for a "mid" EDC with titanium and laminated ZDP, and a couple hundred more for the damascus ones). Ouch:eek:.

If my Sebenza, XM-18, SR-1, Yuna Mini Hard 2, and R.J. Martin Overkill hurt my wallet, a high-end WH would tear it into pieces.

Queen produces nice traditional pocketknives. Many of the current offerings use D2 steel.

There are many different "patterns" to choose from. Here is the "Dan Burke Barlow," for example.

That Dan Burke Small Barlow is one of my absolute favorites. The D2 takes and holds a great edge too. I also like the looks of the Lone Wolf Paul lock knives. Heck thatwould even give you some flair opening it up.

The longer I stare at this one, the more I want it:D.

One thing that bugs me though. Are these knives meant to be used? I mostly ask because I'm unsure about the durability and longevity of these knife materials(titanium scuffs like butter in my pockets). Not sure if the damascus is vulnerable to rust, and the last time I tried to sharpen my 480-1 Shoki I ended up nicking the thumbstud a bit due to its placement above the cutting edge and the fact that it sticks out quite a bit from the blade(seems like a quick and easy way to ruin a $1000 knife). Not sure it's something I would carry to work, and I don't see why I should carry it outside of work without the need to cut anything while I'm in the town. Also not sure I want to pop this out in public as it just seems to say "mug me".

For a traditional locking blade, the Moki knives are very nice. I have a couple of them. I can also second the Mcusta knives. If you want a locking blade, and a small one-hand opening knife, then you can look at the offerings from AG Russell. They have a small model made by Moki that looks a lot like a model that used to be sold by Wm. Henry - and made by Moki.
The OP didn't indicate size preferences, but if interested in something a little larger, in a locking model, there are a few inexpensive D2 steel models from Queen that might do, like the Teardrop (liner lock). For a more traditional, nonlocking style, take a look at the smaller offerings from Schatt & Morgan, Queen, or Northwood. The Schatt & Morgans are often in 420HC, but they did make a few smaller knives in ATS 34, and they are still available online.

This is my "dress knife":

It sits nicely in the pocket of my suit pants, and doesn't scare the populace when it is deployed. However, it is elegant in a traditional way, and makes me smile every time I open it.

The OP also didn't mention a price point, and so far nearly all the recommendations have been for high-dollar knives. Not every "gentleman" has $500+ to spend on something that will be used very little.

BTW- That's a Case CV Yellow Boy Trapperlock.

some amazing knives, I am looking for somthing the size of a finger or so, a lot of these knives are bigger that I had in mind. Also some major high dollar knives, I was thinking under $100. Its a gift for my uncle.

this #33 conductor pattern from GEC is only 3.375" closed, I have one in kauri wood, you could get the Northfield with Burnt Sienna scale for $93.95.

great little knife!

The Moki Glory is 3 3/8" long and about $80 in Quince, with a 2.6" blade. It is a bit more in mother of pearl, but may still be in your price range.

A.G. Russell wharncliffe lockback is my favorite dress knife of mine right now. :) I'd love to get a couple William Henry's if I had the money, but for less than $140 I like the features on this one.

Even comes with a nice pocket sheath...

No idea if u can find these knives in the US, but when I read about ur wish for elegant gentleman's knife, a few of my country's production folders came into my mind....assuming they might fit ur needs for size and price, here they are:

Just thought I'd throw in the Spyderco Centofante III. It has a 3 and 1/8" blade made of VG-10. Not expensive and quite slim. The clip can be removed and I think it makes quite a nice gentleman's folder. I carry one quite often. I think it looks really great too. Just my .02

Check out the selection of Maserin pocketknives at AG Russell. Wife bought me a Gentleman's Pen Knife with Mokume Frame, and I just ordered myself a Temperini.
And of course check out some of AG's own brand knives, like the Spire.

Something vintage perhaps? Here's an example of Bruckmann knives, Solingen, Germany. Made before WWII, but common in the secondary markets.

Something more modern, I love the Moki designs of Seki, Japan.

I've been looking for a knife like that Bruckmann. My dad has a 2-blade Boker that looks almost just like that one. However, I'm having trouble finding similar knives. Could you point me in the direction of some sites that would have them or just suggest some search terms? Thanks in advance.
