Looking for a smaller, classy folding knife with wood scales and OHO

Hi all,

I'm looking for a small-bladed folding knife with the following requirements:
- Under 2.5" blade length preferred, may consider up to 3" but definitely no bigger
- Scales / handle with at least some wood (real wood, dymondwood, laminate, etc., are all fine, but no bone, G10, micarta, etc.); the entire scale being wood OR only having inlays is fine
- Some form of one-hand opening (thumb studs, thumb hole, etc. - NO NAIL NICKS!)
- Preferably made in USA, Europe, or Japan
- Up to $300 is fine, but I'd prefer to spend $100-200 or less

My top considerations at the moment are the Benchmade 482 and Lionsteel Mini. I'd love suggestions to see what else is out there.

Thanks!

Benchmade North Fork maybe. Might be a little chunkier than you are looking for. Blade length just under 3".

There are plenty of traditional knives that fit that bill. I have a Great Eastern Cutlery Model 83 Tascosa. I have one in cocobolo and they can be had in ebony. The bottom one is cocobolo.

Also check out Mcusta knives. They have some nice "gentlemen's folders" with wood handles, some with Damascus blades. Several of the big knife vendors have a number of models to browse through.

The simpler William Henry knives offer wood scales. They are OHO via thumb studs, with a button lock. Price could be high, but costs nothing to look.

Edited to add: the WH EDC E-6 with cocobolo inlays I just found for $275 at one online vendor.

Well I almost didn't post. I saw that you got some higher end knives than mine. Then I saw all the nail nicks.
So
Here is one that has a stud and I like it quite a lot. Easy to open, light in the pocket. Very cool to look at.
Very inexpensive. It's not really Damascus but has laminations on the sides of the blade that look great ! I'm not so sure real Damascus is such big deal any way.

Many vendors have these . . . from amazon to knife stores.
There are two sizes.

The ebony looks way better in hand than the photos. The Damascus has kind of a nickel look to it; it isn't just steel on steel.

I'll try to take a decent photo and put it up if it turns out.

Well . . . how about four poor photos that pretty much get across what I wanted to show ?

What sort of locking mechanism are you looking for? And do you have a steel preference?

PS: The Boker Gent that I showed has steel liners, in black. Some reviews say they don't have liners or have partial liners. Mine has full liners that go all the way back to and including the laniard hole.

Check out the A G Russell One Hand Knife in cocobolo. They have seconds you can buy and try out for around $65 online.

A 2nd for the Benchmade Northfork
SunnySports has it for $123 shipped right now

It feels much smaller than it is, very light, and a great EDC

I would recommend William Henry. It isn't in your price range, but they are worth the money. I have the E6-10 which meets your requirements, but knife is hard to find since it is discontinued. You might find it on web here and there or in some jewelry stores(that's how I got mine). Knife is great, has D2 blade with some sort of black coating, Aluminum handles with signature wood inlays, engraved thumb stud, push button stock, and low ride clip and under 3". On top of that, there are only 600 pieces made so it makes it feel more special haha.

Benchmade Northfork and Grizzley Creek would be good ones.
The bushcraft store makes/sells some woodloreish folders but I'm not sure how long they are.
