Looking for a specific type of Traditional

I'm a fan of the Rough Rider canoes; I think I've become a fan of any canoe pattern. I have a "normal" 2-blade canoe, a lockblade canoe, and a canittler, all in RR's amber jigged bone (I have a Rough Rider stag canoe, too, but I haven't seen it yet; it arrived after I left for a vacation :():

That Remington looks very nice! Beautiful Burl. How is it in comparison to the RR for fit and finish?

Thanks, Pomsbz! :) I picked up the Remington at a local gun & knife show for $10, and consider it to be a bargain. It's very well-made: I can't see any light between springs and liners, no blade play, blade pull 5 or 6, wood covers fit well (and I agree, the wood looks fabulous). At least as nice as my RR canoes, and I actually prefer the Remington's slightly flatter bolsters - the Remington is slightly thinner/flatter than RR.

You've sold me! Two new knives in a day (I pulled the trigger on the Forum 2105 knife), hmmm, record. Can only get worse from here.

Congrats! A couple of very fine knives, IMHO.:thumbup:
There's little doubt you'll buy more knives; my "sage" advice is at least try to pace yourself! :D:D

I'm not a newbie to this I'm afraid. :) I pace myself based on delivery, not living in the US and having a terrible postal system here I get things in trickles. The Remington will be shipped to my employee who is holidaying in NY and will only be back half way through September, the forum knife, who knows. My last knife, the Northwoods Willamette Whittler came a month and a half ago (birthday present) and the knife before, a Case Sodbuster Jr, two month before that. The knives previous to that, a Queen Copperhead and an Opinel No 6 were bought about 6 months before that. My CRKT Swindle and Small Queen Lockback, 6 months previous to that. Leatherman Skeletool and Style CS a year before that.

To be frank it's a cheap hobby relatively (I'm a photographer, my next camera costs $2500 :) paid for by insurance thankfully, a taxi just drove over mine!) and I'm searching for grail usability rather than collecting for the sake of collecting. For example the Opinel is my food knife in work and used as such every day. The Sodbuster Jr has been on my belt for months. The Leatherman's get daily work use. I'm hoping that the new pair, the canoe and the forum knife should answer my needs for a good long time. The forum knife in particular was to be the answer to my search for an EDC knife for the next decade as per the original thread post. What I love about it is that in theory it could easily do that and looks like it will wear really well at the same time!
