Looking for a strong folder as a gift

Maybe I'm wrong going for an extra pocket knife next to his Leatherman.

I've known this guy for almost twenty years. He only takes the Leatherman off when he boards an airplane or goes to sleep.
I really don't dare to show up with an alternative multi-tool.
Especially when you consider that I know dick about them. He builds houses, fixes motorcycles and kills animals.
I work in an office and already feel like Rambo when I hang a painting.

Since his property has three buildings, I gravitated to something portable.

He seemed really impressed with my CS machete, so maybe I should go for a big fixed blade.
I like the Kershaw Outcast. Suggestions of similar blades welcome.
Also for myself. I like the CS machete, but it lacks weight.
I use it to split wood, prefer it to an ax as I find batonning safer than chopping.
Secondary uses: home defense and general knife fetish. :D

How about a CS Voyager (2011 model) AND a Becker (BK2, BK5, BK11, or BK14 depending on how he'd use it.)

Thats funny when i first saw your thread i was gonna say the ontario you are thinking of. Its a beast of a knife isn't it im just questioning weather the handle is too bulky for a folder.

That's a good idea, actually.
What would be a good size Voyager for around the farm, taking into account that already carries the Leatherman?

I'm totally in love with that thing.
But it doesn't have a pocket clip.
For me, that is kind of a showstopper.

Regarding the Opinels:
I always thought they looked kind of flimsy.
But I've looked them up on YouTube and apparently you can abuse the crap out of them.

I learn something new every day.

For $120 you could send him a pair of Buck 110s + a Buck 112 as a backup. These are considered "strong folders".
