I'm trying to figure out a good fixed blade that's under 2.5 inches. I live in chicago so that's the largest I can go. I need some suggestions on a good knife under $100.00

The A.G. Russell Hunter Scalpel has exactly a 2.5" blade, and many people seem to really like it.

Bark River PSK, the original version can be had for $80. Small (short, 3 finger) handle, but it can fit in your pocket, on your neck or belt. BRK micro Canadian is about $104. IF you can find a used one, Bark River's IMP has a 2.5" blade but a full sized handle, it's actually a fat hand filling handle. I got one in trade, it's probably the biggest 2.5" blade you can find, outside of custom.
Blind Horse Tiger Knapp, check their website for it's variations, one comes in kydex another in a leather "folder". The small has a 2.5" blade, and costs $40. I have the large, and the only complaint is the handle is thin, hard use=some hand pain. Otherwise, it's flat, light, holds and edge, and comes sharp. Very well made for that price, so is the kydex.
A super cheap option could be from Klein Tools, their fixed electricians knife is only about $12 at places that sell Klein Tools, hardware and home wharehouse stores.
I can't really think of anything else right now. But, good luck finding one.
Here's another kiridashi, it's a fixed blade, but the blade isn't so long, but still a handfull of steel. This one is 1/4" thick.

Here's the Bark RIver IMP...

IMP is on the left for thickness comparison...

In this pic, the greenish blue handled PSK is something I carry everyday, I forget it's on my belt. The knife above it is a shorter version of the Bark River TUSK, another short blade full size handle knife. And finally to the lower right is the Blind Horse Larger Tiger Knapp...

On the slightly less expensive side there's KA-BAR Becker Remora at 2 1/4".

I like the A.G. Russell Woodswalker. Blade is 2 3/8" and OAL is 6". It weighs 1.2 oz. You can get it with a kydex neck sheath, leather pocket sheath, or with no sheath. It will peel an apple or skin a feral hog. AGR has the best customer service and guarantee in the business-if you don't like it, they'll cheerfully take it back.

It is inexpensive but well built. I carry mine and use it more than any other knife I have.

I really like Tom Krein designed Boker Pocket Bowie. Blade length is 2 1/2 inches.

Look up Alan Davis here on the forum, he makes these little knives and sells them usually under $100.

Great thread for me. Learned there are more fixed EDC options than the BRKT knives I was checking out. OP thanks for asking this question.

edc tasks.. cutting boxes, opening letters, camping, ect.

If you are not opposed to carbon steel (O1) pm or email me. I can hook you up easily for under $100. You could even design your own for that price.

Kabar small tdi is good for belt use. The angled handle keeps it from poking you. 2 5/16" is the length

If you just want a very small blade, you can look at the Ka-Bar TDI LDK, very small blade with a good steel, great shape for your purposes (Wharncliffe), and cheap as dirt. I have seen them for less than $15. Even if you still want something bigger, you can basically tack that onto whatever you do decide to buy for nothing, and if you buy it on Amazon (where I usually buy from, Prime kicks ass), they have a good return policy.
