Looking for a sub 3" blade, prefer G10 scales, flipper or assisted, one hand opening

Ok, I was looking at the Spyderco Persistence, but really want to avoid the Chinese made knives. Is there another blade about that size, maybe even closer to a 2" blade with G10? Ideally, it would be like a mini PM2. It doesn't have to be Spyderco, just using that as an example. I have a Sog Blink in my pocket now, and love that it fits in the coin/watch pocket of my jeans, I'd just like something a bit nicer.

I really have no use for a blade over 3" at all at this point.

There are the Spyderco Dragonfly G10 (VG10, 2.25"), Dragonfly Nishijin (ZDP-189, 2.25"), Cat (440C, 2.45"), and Chicago (440C, 2") all of which are made in Taiwan and are top notch.

The Emerson Mini A-100 is a 3" blade with a G10 handle.

There is a variant of the Leek with G10.

Cold Steel has a couple. The Mini American Lawman, for one.

ProTech makes the Runt J4 automatic. Two inch blade.

As mentioned, the Emerson mini A-100, also the Micro commander if you can find one.

Also, it is not g-10, but, the BM mini grip is a nice smaller usa made knife as well.

Don't know of any that fit all your requirements but here are some that come close ...

Kershaw Skyline - 3.125", 14C28N, Flipper, G10, USA
CRKT Drifter - 2.875", 14Cr14Mov, G10, Thumb stud
SOG Flash 1 - 2.5", AUS8, Assisted, FRN
Kershaw OD-2 - 2.25", 8Cr13Mov, Flipper, GFN
SOG Twitch 1 - 2.0", AUS8, Assisted, Alum

I carry the Kershaw OD-2 at the office. Well made, locks up solid, flips open so fast like it was assisted, handle is GFN but looks like G10, and it's much nicer than the SOG Blink.

The Spyderco Dice is a small flipper. Also consider the Kershaw Scallion, Leek, G10 Cryo, and Skylne.

I have a S30V/G10 Skyline flipper for sale in the FS forum that I'll give you a deal on if you're interested.

Thanks for the input guys. I do have a Leek, (aluminum scales) and it is longer than what I'm looking for. Don't get me wrong, it is a great knife, but it is just a bit long.

I've been looking at all the suggestions so far and will post up what I decide on.

Check out the Kershaw Cryo G10 if you find the Leek too long. It's just 8Cr steel, but it's well made for sure. Also, there are the Kershaw/Emerson collabs (CQCK-2 and 3 are in your size range) but they're waved non-flippers.

If you're not dead set on the flipper/assist, I strongly recommend the Spyderco Dragonfly. Incredibly capable little knife, and it has phenomenal edge retention if you get it in ZDP-189.

The Spyderco Domino and the DICE fit your requirements. Both are non-sprung flippers, which I like. CTS-XHP steel.

I started reading the OP and the first thing that came to mind is the Kershaw Cryo G10. I see that you boys had the same idea. I don't like the Cryo but, I have to admit, it is a great knife for the money.

How about the new black washed Kershaw Zing? It has G10 scales.

The Dragonfly may be at the top of my list now.

Dpx heft 2.0. Solid knife 3.15" blade. Can be waved open like an Emerson using the bottle opener. Great knife

Dpx fixed blades are tough too 3.15 blade too one the original and assault models

Brous Bionic, Spyderco Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189 are my favorite sub 3" modern folders.

The ZDP Dragonfly is like buying a kitten and getting the capabilities of a lion. Its truly the little knife that could.

AND it's made in China

I did see that. I prefer US made, but I'll settle for Japanese made if I can't afford the US made items. I bought a bunch of stuff a while ago and realized I was never going to use it, some Chinese made, some Swiss made, others I forget. I've realized that I don't really need anything much over 2". My SAK Classic does 95% of any cutting I need to do. I do like having a slightly larger blade in my pocket for tasks that are a bit of a stretch for the SAK.

Thanks again for the input!
