Looking for a unique EDC...

But if you decide to go with a seb get one of the cgg or uniques. The plain jains lack alot of the "in your face" uniqueness.

I am definitely not brave enough to mod a knife. Ekk! 😳

I real like like the Sebenzas with the micarta inlays. Simple and sexy.

Grayman Dua
ZT560
Strider SMF
Sebenza

I recently got my first Sebenza, a micarta inlaid 25, and it was worth every penny and exceeded my loftiest expectations. It can be very hard to open, due to the deep detent and pointy thumb stud, but the construction is perfect and I know for sure that the blade absolutely will not open unless I want it to.

I also have a Strider SnG. I was very concerned before I received the knife, after all the threads about bad QC and politics and whatever, but I was glad to find it perfect. Everything about it, the detent, grinds, blade centering, lockup, fit of the parts, was perfect. I did redo the edge, it was something worse than 50 degrees, but even with a 45 degree edge it is quite a slicer for such a thick blade and I trust the great heat treated S30V to not chip.

If I had to choose one, it would be a very difficult choice but I would go with the SnG. The design is just so perfect, and I love single piece G10 frame/backspacer knives like the SnG/SMF/PT or Benchmade's Seibert 755 MPR.

Unique? Take a look at some of Spyderco's blades. I find them to be one of the only production companies that release truly unique knives.

There's been a lot of decent production framelocks coming about recently that I have noticed... and they seem like good quality. I would definitely first vote for the DUA as I hear they have great customer service and I have handled a few... they are solid knives! But secondly I would look up also the ti framelocks: Quartermaster Roper and the Reate Hills flipper. I have handled the roper and it is solid yet very smooth.

I can second the southern grind bad monkey. I absolutely love mine and their steel is great. No complaints here. And, their customer service is top notch!

Just a update, I got a email notification that the Ti/Ti DLC Dua's are in stock... So I ordered one. :)

Ships out Friday! Where is Grayman located? Are they considered a custom or production ?

How about Al Mar knives: sere 2000, payara, or shrike. All 3 have a look all there own, they're really smooth opening, ergos are great and are really underrated since you are getting a custom quality knife in a production folder. A close second, for me anyway would b a.Fallkniven folder.

I have a Payara. You're the only other person I have ever seen reference it. That is weird to me, considering the truly top notch action and F&F. I know the knock with Al Mar is usually something like, "G-10 and VG-10 for that money?", but the same guys will pump an extra $300 into titanium and S35VN over a ZT and cite the F&F as the rationale.

I'd like to add a Nomad, at some point.

Couple of cool options:

Three Sisters Forge Beast
William Henry knives
LionSteel TiSpine

I would say get the sebenza eventually. If you prefer a flipper i would suggest the 0560. I own the 0561, mainly because most of my knives are all black, however its a great knife no matter what model you choose.

I take back what I said about the '25 being hard to open, mine broke in and the difference is noticeable. It is now my smoothest opening folder, and also has the strongest detent I've ever experienced.

You want unique? Well then, grab a dremel and some sand paper(or more professional tools) and make something unique. Here's my work in progress military-

But if you decide to go with a seb get one of the cgg or uniques. The plain jains lack alot of the "in your face" uniqueness. Don't get me wrong, the large plain 21 is by far my favorate knife I have ever owned, but it shines in its refined simplicity if that makes any sense. I don't have any experience with any of the other knives mentioned.

This is what you need to do. Want unique? Make it unique.
